Are you under stress?

in #life6 years ago

Hello dears! I recently thought, that the happiest people are the ones with nerves of steel))) Such people are very difficult to bring out of balance, they are calm, prudent, not nervous about nothing. We say, that all diseases are caused by nerves. If you think about it - it really is. If we are in a bad mood, prone to stress, then any little thing we take to heart. And when there are a lot of such small troubles, they merge into a band of bad luck, which pisses us off even more. Today in my day I had just a lot of small troubles: delay, headache, lack of the necessary suit in shop, cold on the street, lack of hot water in the apartment (though it had to be), hunger and lack of the prepared food in the refrigerator... The tension builds up and in the evening I become like a time bomb, which is ready to explode at any moment. What helps us to protect ourselves from stress? And what is the to handle stress? Quality, which is transmitted to us by inheritance or charaeteristics, which we can learn? I think both options are correct. I think, that regular exercise, proper nutrition, lack of bad habits are the key to strong nerves. And of course the right attitude to life also increases your stress resistance. I try to develop this quality, although it is very difficult...

To control stress you need to have a lot of things right. Number 1 is having the right mindset at the right time :) I really think being under stress is one of the hardest thing to deal with however if not dealt with, may afect our health without knowing.

Right mindset determines a lot, you're right! We will try)

Climbing the corporate ladder at my previous companies was basically a test of how much stress can you take before you say enough. I think the most successful managers were the ones who could disconnect from the implications of the stress, or sometimes disconnect from the responsibility.

I agree that most often we experience stress at work, we can not get away from it...

Hi, I agree with you and with "notsoperfectlife"

What you actually call "quality", I think I would call it "self-control" and it's one of the more difficult things to achieve in life, since it has to do with being able to think and feel the right thing at the right time.

Self-control is an attitude towards life and as you said, that includes diet, exercise, etc. I believe however, it is also very important to learn and master physical self-relaxation. The control of the big muscle groups is an important factor to limit the damage that the excess of stress can cause to our body.

It is very simple. If you think it, when you are stressed (at the mind level I mean), the muscles tends to get tense and that accumulation of tension makes us worse and worse as the hours go by if we do not release it; in this case the mind affects the body, but if you learn to manage that muscle tension, the effect is reversed and the mind relaxes too, with the consequent benefits in our daily activities.
. . . . . . .

You picked the right word - self-control! Thank you! This is something we can really work on)

Hi, @springmelody! Please take a minute and check out my new Steemit t-shirt design. I was working on it for a long time and hope that it is nice.

Great article, springmelody! :)
I'd like to add to it... The feeling of stress is caused by the fight-freeze-flight chemicals, and some of the effects those have on the body are:

  • Pumping blood away from the organs to the extremities - for running away or fighting (which means your organs aren't getting the bloodflow they need)
  • Digestion, healing, and other non-emergency systems are shut down (they're not necessary for surviving a threat in the moment)
... and so much more - so, you're right, it makes it a top priority to develop the ability to reduce stress, to reduce the "knock-on" effect. :)
