HALLUCINATION!

in #life6 years ago

Look, what do you see

Have you ever been so sure of seeing a shadow of someone pass across the room or door, only to discover that it was absolutely nothing or probably heard voices or a person’s voice calling out or saying something besides there is nobody in the house, you could probably be hallucinating, but what is hallucination.

Hallucination is an experience involving the apparent perception of something not present. why do hallucinations occur, what triggers a person to have such an experience, is it of the mind? Is it caused by fear or anxiety or both? Hallucinations can happen to anyone but most times hallucinations are far more than what the doctors say or what we may perceive it to be, it can also occur if the person involved has mental illnesses like schizophrenia or a nervous problem like Parkinson’s disease, and sometimes if not quickly treated hallucinations can drive you mad.

There are different ways a person can experience hallucinations

  1. AUDITORY HALLUCINATION: As the name implies, this type of hallucination has to dow with hearing, it may seem like there are people talking or laughing or even crying, the person experiencing this will hear the sounds of all these but in reality there is nobody actually talking or crying but the person involved can swear that he/she heard it. And sometimes, it could also be that there are telling him/her to do something, the voices could drive the person to do something really bad.

  2. VISUAL HALLUCINATION: This has to do with sight, the person in this condition speaks of seeing people or someone passing across the room or hallway whereas nobody actually passed, and sometimes you may even see insects or such crawling on the body of someone close to you but in reality, nothing is.

  3. OLFACTORY HALLUCINATION: This type of hallucination has to do with smell, you might probably perceive an odd smell around or sometimes it could seem like your smelling when in reality there's no smell.

  4. GUSTATORY HALLUCINATION: This makes you feel like something you ate or drank has a foul taste but it doesn't.

  5. TACTILE HALLUCINATION: This is the type of hallucinations that makes you feel things that are not really happening like feeling like your being tickled or feeling like there are insects moving under your skin, but this is not real.

CAUSES OF HALLUCINATION

Every problem has a cause, nothing just happens out of the blooms, there is always a reason why it happened, and hallucination is a part of such issues and it sure does have causes. Hallucination could be caused by:-
MIGRAINE: Personally, I have had migraines in the past and it definitely caused me to see things that were not really there, like rays of colored lights, the light will be so bright that it feels like it is going to tear your head into half and nobody else ever saw those lights and i never saw them until the headaches start, well migraine headaches can be a cause of visual hallucination.

EPILEPSY: Epilepsy is a seizure of the brain and this can trigger a session of hallucinations, because of the seizures that accompany the disorder, but this actually depends on which part of the brain has the seizure.

SCHIZOPHRENIA: This is a mental illness, and it is very well known that disorders that have to do with the brain and the senses would definitely have hallucinations as a part of that disorder, about 70% of people with this disorder experience the visual hallucinations while about 90% hear voices.

PARKINSON’S DISEASE: This is a long-term degenerative disorder that affects the central nervous system and seriously affects the motor system in the body, it symptoms are rigidity, shaking, depression, difficulty in walking or thinking, dementia and hallucination. This disorder could distorts the brain causing the victims to hear and see what are not really there.

TREATMENTS:

First step in treating hallucinations is finding the root cause of the hallucinations and this can only be done by a doctor, so first of all, a person who is experiencing this should go to hospital, the doctor will probaly take down your medical history and from there find a solution to the issue, either by advicing you or referring you to a therapist and also might give you a couple of pills that could help in reducing and completely eradicating the issue.

An MRI might be conducted on the patient, this will give a pictures of the internal structures in the body, so as to help detect if there is an issue like a brain tumor which might be causing the hallucinations.

As said earlier, drugs could be prescribed that would help in seizures, migraines etc hence reducing the recurrence of this hallucinations.

IN CONCLUSION;

The need to be very attentive to our bodies is very beneficial, so as to know when we are experiencing something normal or abnormal, regular checkups are also very much recommended, we should all try to visit the hospital and conduct tests to know exactly what shape our self medication.
