To Find Happiness – You Must Give Up On The Idea Of Happiness

Real happiness lies in that which never comes nor goes, but simply is.”

There’s a widespread belief in our culture which claims that at the end of the day, "as long as you’re happy", it’s all that matters.
Coincidence that misery has taken us all by the collar?

Because we follow the mainstream bs propagated by our culture like it’s the irrefutable truth of the universe, we’ve mistakenly come to believe that happiness must be the first goal to strive toward in all our endeavors.

Ironically, this approach has been proven to fail big time, yet like the blind followers that we are, we haven’t yet stopped to question the conventional anti-wisdom that we’ve shoved up our mouths.

At least if we had the balls to vomit all that nonsense and start back from scratch, we could perhaps get somewhere better. The fact is that not only are we doomed for thinking that happiness is an "aim" to be reached, but we’re also at fault for looking for it in all of the wrong places.

There are certain instances in life where giving up is the wise thing to do. And when it comes to "happiness", that’s precisely what we should do: give up altogether on this idea that it should be pursued. Those beliefs belong where they came from: in the garbage.

A profound form of bliss appeared in my heart in a time of my life where I had stopped believing in the myths of happiness. It’s not that I thought that I would never be happy again, but it’s rather that I called it quits on trying to search for it. I ended this quest because I understood that there wasn’t going to be a treasure at the end of it. The treasure was inside me all along, simply waiting to be awaken. (Shoutout to my ride or die, inner peace!)
Happiness came as a byproduct of feeling internally at peace.

Why force something that doesn’t come naturally anyway? Using force, pressure and all kinds of counterproductive strategies to make the arrival of happiness come faster to us is clearly not going to work. Have you ever tried being clingy to someone you just met? (raising my own hand here) Were you surprised when the person ran away as fast as possible?

Furthermore, when you dissect this so-called thing "happiness", you uncover two main components: the cause and the effect.

The cause stands for whatever it is that brings about the state of happiness to you.
The effect, on the other hand, holds for the "happiness" that this very thing evokes in you.
And so for this happiness sensation to come along, both the cause and the effect have to work together. If they’re not in synch with each other, we won’t get to feel this happiness.

This means that we rely both on our internal world (to elicit the happiness) and on the external world (circumstance that triggers happiness) to do their job right so we can get what we want: happiness.
In other words, if our brain chemicals and our boyfriend (either one or them) feel like taking a break from us on any given day, we’re pretty much fucked.
Unless we decide to call the shots and stop desperately asking life for another shot of serotonin. Then there might be hope.

The more we try to stay afloat in the sea of happiness, the deeper we will get under the surface. (make yourself a favor and avoid that territory altogether. Thank me later when you’ll be flying high in the land of Bliss)
