You Lose Your Freedom The Moment You Seek Approval From Others

Never Do Things Out Of The Desire To Be Accepted

What matters the most to you? Your freedom or your ego?

Modern technology has made us become increasingly out of touch with ourselves. Some care more about how other people perceive them than how they perceive their own selves. Others fall into the trap of thinking that their level of (fame/beauty/power) equates their value as a person. As a result, they seek more of what makes them feel like they are worthy and liked.

It seems ironic to think that they give so much power to other human beings.
" It’s not me that gets to decide if my new profile picture is cute af. It’s you. " I’ve never understood why some put the opinion of others above their own. Do other people hold the ultimate version of the truth that you don’t have?

If we dig a little deeper, we can perhaps understand why human beings feel compelled to seek external validation. Perhaps they have been conditioned to believe that their action only becomes a valid one the moment it gets accepted by someone that is not them. Or maybe it stems from a lack of true self-love and acceptance. Could it be that they simply blindly follow the movement of the masses and do it "cuz that’s just what everybody else does? " No one wants to be a lone wolf, right?

On the other end of the approval spectrum, you have what I like to call the
"look at me" phenomenon. Now the person victim of this kind of pattern is one who seeks a shower of compliments after having accomplished something that they are proud of. The issue is that instead of keeping their pride internally, where it should be, they have this urge to share it with the world. After all, would you really buy yourself a Lambo if everyone in the world was blind? As social media addicts, they are opportunists. They won’t miss an occasion to have their ego rubbed the right way.

In the digital world of today, you will almost always have another shot at getting the validation or approval hit that you want. Just remember that it’s a " want" , not a " need. " You don’t need acceptance from other people to survive. You don’t need acceptance from others to live a happy and fulfilled life. (In fact, you will be way happier without it 😉 )

It makes even less sense to think that human beings seek acceptance from people they have no close relationship with. Craving positive attention from strangers is as futile as aiming to reach enlightenment.
Wrong approach. Try again later.
