The rise of civil society

in #life6 years ago

When the English came to Kolkata in 1690, when the first settlement in Calcutta came to the place, there was a complete qualification for the place. For this reason, the Bengali people who first started the buses in Kolkata, the environment was quite easy for them. That means, those who first came from Gorham to Calcutta, they brought the village here. For the rural people to follow in Calcutta so that they do not get interrupted, they brought their dumbfold, hairdresser etc. together with them. Together they brought more of the village practices, customs and education system, such as Pathshala, Chatuspathy etc.

The rural society that shifted to the city was first hit, in the middle of the eighteenth century, in the coup of an "elite" class in the city. Sethbasaras who first settled in this city were the holders of rural civilization till the English came to an early age. The Seth-Basakarai built the first chamber in the city. The zamindars of Calcutta also had a cacharbari near Laldighi. Then, after the arrival of the English, two or four people who had earned two pennies in the pilgrims started making four or ten groves. Initially Bengalite was in the market from Barabazar to Hatkhola. After a hundred years, when Marbaris came to the city, Barabazar lost its importance as the bus station of Bengalis.

Initially, the Bengalis who wanted to build a beautiful house, had to build their house in Kumartalul outside the Barabazar-Hatkhola. The Banamali government built a very beautiful house here. Then Govindram Mitter built a large house in Kumartuli and a magnificent nebraska temple adjacent to it. In the middle of the eighteenth century, Gokul Mito 'came and built a large house nearby. All of them were people of devoted society. That means, all of them used to do religious work according to rural rituals and the teachings of Scripture. But after the midday of the century, when Raja Nabakrishna Dev came to Rabspallali (Paukar's name Shobbazar), the social life of the Bengali people took a new form. In the palace of Hindus, where the devotees, relatives and family members were invited, Maharabah Nabakrishna joined them to receive the blessings of Dev Saheb. Pujabari entered the foreign sura and banned food. Immediately develops the dancers' team. Five big stars followed Nabakrishna to get the blessings of the people. A new elite community was created in the town. When the zamindari started taking auction in 1790, they bought those zamindari. Their descendants felt helpless in their house at night. The night began to spend in the house of Buddmita. The rural society of our life was very tricky, Bhabanicharan Bandyopadhyay in the twentieth century.

But did not affect the ordinary people. The common people became the custodians of the devoted and the rural culture. This we can learn from paintings by contemporary artists. These are Thomas Daniels, William Daniel, Solvins and William Simpson. These artists are deeply depicted in front of our eyes and reflects contemporary social life, religious festivals and customs.
