Bloody Marys - best drink ever!!!
Hi Steemers!! What's your favourite tipple of choice? I'm a wino from way back but over the last few years I have been having a rather passionate love affair with an old classic... the Bloody Mary.
Now it wasn't love at first taste... quite the opposite actually. As an 18year old with under developed liquor tastebuds I thought it tasted like cold, spicy tomato soup!
Lucky for me I outgrew the sugary, lollywater alcopops and can now appreciate this spicy, savoury masterpiece in all her glory.
The only bad thing is not all bars/pubs/restaurants/clubs can or will make this delicious drink.. Either for lack of ingredients or lack of knowledge by hipster, novice bartenders!
For this reason, I think it is important for every Bloody Mary enthusiast to master their own at home recipe! Mine is -
Vodka
Tomato Juice
Salt and pepper
Fresh lemon
Tabasco sauce
Worcestershire sauce
Ice
Celery
Bacon
Trim bacon and cook in oven. Shot or two (depending on how strong and how big your glass is) of vodka, squeeze a fresh lemon wedge in and use wedge for garnish. Mix Worcestershire and Tabasco in according to personal taste. Salt and pepper. Stir. Add ice and top with tomato juice. Garnish with celery and cooked bacon.
Voila!... just how I like it!
You can play around with your own recipe and garnishes... some people use tequila and/or gin with/instead of vodka. Some use horse radish, add red wine etc - the possibilities are endless!

Ohhh I would love a bloody mary right now!! My mouth is watering just thinking of it. I have also had one with Sailor Jerry rum they called it a Bloody Jerry, and it was also delicious!
