What will it be

For some months back me and my wife looked at a new house. They started building some nice semidetached houses in a new neighborhood not far from where we live now. Although we were quite enthusiastic at first (of course being overwhelmed by a lot of things) We decided not to do it, not buying the house. It just didn't felt good. The moment we decided to not buy was a funny one.

Sketch from the semidetached house

We we're both sitting on our couch watching some TV on a friday night, and it was bothering us both without knowing it from eachtother. So we looked at eachother and said quite at the same time "It doesn't fee good" .... Although that was funny we did decided not to go any further with that house. One of the reasons were the neighbours. The firm only started building when both parts of the semidetached where sold and the one next to "ours" was already sold. They made some (for us) bad decisions in building (you could choose from a lot of options). They saved money on the wrong things which caused (in hour opninion) a less comfortable surrouding. So for us it felt "you are buying a new house but can't have it exactly the way you want it"..

A other thing was the garden, although it was a big garden,in the back of the garden there was a sound barrier for the road behind it. It was a high barrier which made the garden look very closed... So we decided not to go any further in the proces. It would probably be the last house we will buy till our sons leave the house, so it had to be anything we ever dreamed of, and this just wasn't....

So we decided to stay in the house where we are living now...

Our current street

Surprised I was when I received a app from my wife some weeks ago with a house in a village near us, the house had still to be build and she thought it was a nice house for us... So I asked where this was comming from, I thought we agreed to stay in our current house :)... Then she said that it's keeping her busy, she does want a change of surrounding and home. So we discussed this at night, and to be honest for me I don't mind where I live, as long as it feels like home 'our home'.... So I told her that if she truely wants to move then maybe we have to take the step. The next day we talked about it with our kids because we do think it is a family thing and not ony our decision to make. they where thrilled, and I really had a laugh about the note of our oldest: "I never moved in my life before, this is the only home so far, I want to move " :)

So we made the decision "We are gonna move".... But to where.... The housemarket is booming in the Netherlands at the moment and there aren't a lot of houses for sale, and when you are looking for that particular house... It ain't making things easy. We did invite a estate agent to sell our house, even without having a other one our selfs. The market is good so we think it is better to sell your own property at the good moment... And if needed we always can rent a house for a while..

So it is all very exciting, we have some houses where we want to have a look. So fingers crossed !!

Have a great day

We got lucky when we were buying our place, it was the bottom of the market in Netherlands (we didn't find it like that!) and the seller's agent went bankrupt (so we were the only people who saw it) and they had already bought a place in France and were desperate to sell!

However, I remember looking at quite a few places. And the agent's advice which I remember clearly was : If you step in and it gives you a bad impression, don't even bother looking further to see if you might like it...

I totally agree, when we see something is must really have that magic and feeling that we could actually see that as our home ...

Wow! What are you going to do about your solar panels? Didn't you just have those installed? Good luck with the house hunting though. I know how crazy it can be. My wife and I looked for close to a year before we found the right one for us!

Yes ideed the solar panels were just installed. They stay at the house though. In the new house I install them again or perhaps they are already on it (i hope)..

Well see what it brings :)
