Be prepared for opportunity so that you can seize the opportunity
Most people are complaining about why they don't get the opportunity, why they can't meet people who can help them, why they’re not valued. Have you ever thought about how a person got the chance to get the opportunity?
Let’s put these aside for a moment, first of all, let me tell you two stories:
Story One: A and B received an offer from the same company, and they got into the same department after entering the company. They were coached by the same manager, who instructed them to do the same thing every day, and reports to the manager and supervisor weekly.
Their only difference is that when A was doing the weekly report to the manager and supervisor, he will ask them if they have any problems so that he can improve. And when A met problem that he didn’t understand, he will promptly ask his manager, at the same time speak out his own ideas.
After three months, the supervisor asked the manager, "there is an important task, who should I assign to?" The manager blurted out, "Give it to A."
In this way, A gained an important opportunity, and his career is on the smooth sailing.
We can analyze from story one, what A has done and what he gets.
(1) After every weekly report, A will inform the manager and supervisor in time, so that the manager and the supervisor know that there is such a person, and timely access to the weekly report, timely point out questions, let you know the progress.
(2) Timely ask question, and have an idea of their own, so that he can quickly grow, mature through the communication with the manager, but also cultivate the relationship between manager.
Perhaps B is better, he can complete the task independently, more mature. But in this efficient society, the manager and the supervisor also have their own things to do, they might be busy, and if you don’t remind them, they will just read through your weekly report. When having a new task, they will remember A more than B.
Story two: C work in a company for two years, he usually works very hard, reliable in everything he does. One day, the supervisor comes and says:” Can you summarize your work experience, because we will have a sharing meeting a few days later. This time C was dumbfounded. He began to think about what he had done in the past two years; What problems he had encountered, how to solve it, and he found himself as if he knew everything, and didn't know anything at the same time. So C began to write and share the content. When he was writing, he vaguely thinks of his work encountered in a large pit, wants to write up, but suddenly found himself can’t support this big pit, the previous corroboration has not been found, want to reproduce, and can not reproduce. So, C did not write anything. When the supervisor asks about what he wrote, C's answer was he doesn’t know what to write.
In this way, C lost further trust from the supervisor, he also lost a further good opportunity.
What can you tell from story two? The accumulation of the usual is very important. When the opportunity comes, if you are ready, you can always seize.
If C usually accumulate more, when that opportunity comes, he can take advantage of, get reuse and trust.
Opportunities do not fall from the sky, what you need to do is to accumulate, be more active, more intentions, and do more thinking.
So that when the opportunity comes, you can hold firmly.
