The Art of Making Decisions

Taking the right decision is always hard, especially if we got different options at a time. It's very common to feel a dilemma and being unsure about what to do. It may happen to us all that we make a decision thinking it would be great but in the long run, it comes out not as effective as we thought. So to avoid that we can follow some rules. Like there's an art of decision making. It may sound wired coz why an art on decision making? You can say this is a nice process or a step by step guideline which can help us to make a good decision.

I'm sharing what I feel best to find an effective decision-making process.

Make a priority list. If we can figure what is the most important thing we need to take care of at this moment, every other thing will automatically fall in the line.

Sort out the outputs. Like- if you choose a certain job what result it would give you in the long term. Or if you choose a crash diet what would be the health effects. If we can think about the long term results it certainly can help us to make the right decisions.

Sort out what you actually want. It's actually the hardest part I believe. If we talk about something long term like 'Marrying someone' we have to think about our values, desires, thoughts and so many things. Also, if we talk about a job/ career we also have to account for so many other things in our lives. If we can sort out what we actually want in the long run it will be very effective. I know it's not easy and there's no assurance that you will be 100% correct. But it helps.

I think it's not actually that tough to make sort-term decisions like what to wear or eat. But in the long term like choosing a graduation subject, a career, life partner, kid's school, etc it needs lots of time and it's not that easy. But I think if we can break down the decisions in different parts and match our mentality like I have said it would be a lot easier to take the right decision.

I will talk about how to come to an end with decision making and choose the most effective option in my other post.

I hope it helps a bit!
