The Freelance Economy

in #life6 years ago

Is this the future we are heading for? As more and more websites and crypto opportunities arise it might lead to a world where the predominate work force are freelancers. It is already getting harder and harder for youth to find jobs and they are gravitating towards the internet. Right now this is sites like youtube and uber but this is just the beginning. As more crpyto sites pop up that reward users directly you will see a wave of freelance jobs.

There are many benefits to this, for one, the ones who provide the content and the service will see a bigger piece of the pie. When you can pay the person directly it will cut back on the fees and middlemen. There will also be more opportunity for people who work hard but might now have the schooling or traditional interview skills that decide job placement. It might get very competitive but if enough sites pop up we can have enough opportunities.

I think it will take a few years before we see this but I do think it will be the future. It is already shaping like it for the younger generations. The old 9-5 world may be a thing of the past. It will take crypto for this to really take effect and we will see the impact it has when dapps start to get released this year and next.

The tricky part with a question like this is how do freelancers survive non-productive periods? What if its a slow quarter, or they want to take a vacation?

Jumping into a corporation helps spread some risk around and also provides a safety net of sorts for non-productive periods. Sure, you are losing some upside to those safety nets, but for many, it is worth the risk-tradeoff.

Unless the blockchain also provides low-cost, low-overhead freelancer insurance that lets multiple contractors pitch in to cover each other for more stability.

That could be a coin idea, freelance insurance.

Yea, I could imagine it as 1-part insurance, 1-part ROSCA.

freelance is the future and blockchain will make the reputation systems which will make it safe and more reliable.

Blockchain reputation systems will also help us find one another inn the first place. Think, linkedin, ebay, Craigslist, where identity and history were securely verified on the chain in a way that made me identifiable for my random skill by you and my score could be a reliable indicator of my worth and value.

At least till AI can do literraly everything we do, better... And They will.

The blockchain revolution is becoming one of the biggest revolutions in all of history.
Yes, it is a revolution. And even though it may be slowed down, it can't be stopped.
It's all a matter of the time before the decentralized becomes a norm

Getting jobs has already started to become an outdated concept. Although there are plenty of decent jobs out there but these jobs do not incentivizes the worker in form of accomplishment. You get paid and but your accomplishments belong to the entity you worked for.

For people money is a big incentive but not always and after some time they want a stake in the system they have been working in and not just a thank you payment.

As peer to peer connectivity gets more firmly established in the digital world, we'll see even a greater rise in 'self employed economy'

The internet will be the global economy, we are being witnessed to the internet-based economy of the future cryptocurrencies are changing the global economy more and more towards the internet, soon products are going to be exchanged directly for bitcoins or other cryptocurrencies.

Another thing to notice is that while robots will be taking most of our hard labor works like industry, there will be more space and incentive for people to work as a freelancer in their computers, since you can do what you like and you get paid for doing it, maybe in the future robots are going to be the ones doing hard works while humans will be doing leisure things like writing in blogs, producing videos or live streaming to obtain money, kinda like the movie "Ready player one" where people get coins in a virtual reality platform that are worth real-life money.

Thank you for producing this thought-provoking article I really enjoyed it.

Actually these online jobs are good.

Why ?

because i guess it greates more jobs for us.
and as we know right now in alot of countries there is a need for job.

but the people that manage to make living off of these online jobs, have to either be really good at what they are doing or some just get lucky i guess.
either way it is good for us.

There are many benefits to this

And many, many bad things. Self-slavery just to get the money needed for food, for example .

Also, for many jobs, it may be more ineffective.
Yes, more effective in termns of money that does not go to others. But the others, in a company, do a job, too.
An experienced accountant can do your paperwork in one tenth of the time you need to do it. An IT professional can help you with your computer a lot faster than if you torture google (this may come to a surprise to the crypto crowd, but most people are not IT savvy).

This is an interesting and thought-provoking topic indeed. I think that the search for qualified and cheap workforce will lead to splitting a work task into multiple parts that are bought in as freelance work. This will increase the need of freelancers and decrease using expensive full-time employees. Thus, for many industries using freelancers would be both a way to save money and find easily replacable workforce.

In this context is interesting to think what kind of skills are important for being a sucessful freelancer. And does the persons, who don't have the "interview skills" for landing a job, have these skills that would be beneficial for freelance work. If we think further, does the schoolsystem prepare the younger generations for the future in which freelance economy has a greater importance?

And what to do you think will be the role of cryptos in this, as freelancing can be done without it, really? For me, I think, it provides new and innovative tools for the process...

The world of cryptocurrencies came to change the perspective of many people in this world, financial freedom is getting closer and closer
