How to strengthen your energy field... and naturally improve your health and well-being
The general rule here is:
Surround yourself with at least 80% of those things that support life and reduce or avoid those things that cause stress or harm to the human energy field.
An important thing to understand here is that "Qi" and the human energy field itself are not personal. This means that they do not care what our opinions are, how much money we have in the bank, what religion we follow or what our political affiliation is. Just like gravity, gravity does not care what our opinions are, it just is, and does what it does. And so too, that is how "Qi" and the human energy field also behaves.
Therefore, it is wise to learn how "Qi" and the human energy field work so that you can work with it so that you can experience enhanced clarity, energy and well-being.
To help give you a better understanding of how the human energy field works, I have created a list below that outlines those things that tend to weaken the energy field and those things that support or uplift it.

I have seen many people (mainly health fanatics and natural therapists) go into a type of hysteria regarding this as they create so much anxiety and stress around trying to constantly avoid certain environments, foods, or things that may be harmful.
The truth is that sometimes these things are unavoidable because we cannot control our environment 100% of the time, so sometimes we will be faced with it. So when we are, don’t lose the balance of your mind by creating stress and anxiety around it.
Just accept it for now, keep calm, and when it changes, just move on with a smile. If you lose the balance of the mind and become very anxious about this, often, this causes more stress on your system than the actual environment itself.
Another exception to the general rule is that when any being reaches a highly evolved state of consciousness, they tend to transcend all the negative (and positive) effects of the external environment they are in because it appears that the external world has lost any power over them. Therefore, for these highly evolved beings, eating a McDonald’s Big Mac burger while listening to heavy metal music will probably have no ill effect on them.
The most powerful suggestion from the list that helps build up peoples life force is to take up some kind of regular martial arts or yoga practice. The martial arts most recommended are Kung Fu, Karate, Aikido or any martial art that acknowledges the human spirit and the existence of “Qi” or “Ki”. This kind of training will strengthen and ground the body, improve physical and psychological balance, and increase our sensitivity to our life force wisdom. For yoga, I would generally steer away from schools like Bikram and suggest studying less commercialized schools and styles such as Jivamukti, Yin yoga, Sivananda, Ashtanga, Iyengar, Oki-Do, Yoga in Daily life, Hatha, and Kundalini.

I was listening to eternal om's today as I was doing work - I felt so chilled and the whole house was suffused with this palpable energy that even hubby noticed when he walked in teh door, though the om's had finished. There's something to be said for the right music for right energies, that's for sure! It can be quite subjective though - I'd have blues over jazz any day - to the point I find jazz actually slice and dice my energy fields!!

It's interesting that talking is in there as draining, as it can create energy too I'd imagine - as long as the talk is of a certain nature. Perhaps that's the yin yang of every thing too, huh? Although I'm not sure what the yin is to heavy metal... hmmm.... maybe when you turn it off :)
Thanks for the comment. Yah the talking is referring to talking as an "addiction." Too much talk and unnecessary talk can easily drain one's energy (yet, at the time you will usually feel quite high from it).
