First dandelions of the year!! Love this wild wonderful weed 💛 got to see it while out on a walk with my daughter.

And, later on in the week we planned to go visit The Regal Cat Cafe, a fun little business that showcases cats up for adoption. You go in, and have a chance to eat/ drink and be with cats! Fun right? Alas, we missed our appointment slot. My son has a way of sabotaging outings as form of coping from being in a toxic family situation up until the past few months. (Either that or he's being 13 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♂️) So, we went on to plan B. Hang out by the Bow River on the first mild & wonderful evening of 2018! It was awesome. You can see the downtown Calgary skyline in the distance.

Spent a whole day going through a box of old photos from back in the day when the kids were babies, grandpa's were alive, and there's such thing as camera, film & photos. That was a sweet day of reminiscing and connecting with lots of family members. Took photos of the photos with my handy dandy phone camera.

Here's one. Me and my girl 💜

So many have no clue that they are more then what some call a weed.. they have a purpose .. you can make ti and things i hear. I like them because they are simple and beautiful

Oh yeah, i am among the odd ones out around here the way i enjoy dandelions! But, surprisingly, there were dandilion greens for sale at a supermarket either last season (it's a blurr) or the one previous. Do dandelions grow in Hawaii?

Back home in Hawaii we dont see them much at all. They are not native and unless someone has seeds you wont see them much

That's so neat to comprehend! No dandelions!! Where do you live now?

I now live in Florida. This is my first year away from home ever. Everything is so new here and i feel like a child at times looking at this big world. Lol

Ahhh, Florida! I have heard wonderful things. Now, that I am older, and when I travel with the kids .... it sure adds to the level of uneasiness when experiencing new culture. Our first trip on our own was to Hawaii. For a Christmas getaway with a few of my family members. I was SO glad there was little culture shock and that it was Hawaii ❤ it was SO scary. I didn't prepare for that feeling. It was the only time I've been to Hawaii.

Having childlike wonder is an awesome space to be in!! Wishing you all the best as you stretch your wings!! You can always return home if you want to! Good for you for flying the coup! Do you have family or friends where you live now?

Well i brought my baby , my son that just made 13 today ❤ and we moved her to be with my bf that i was with back on maui.

Your son is 13? I think I am misunderstanding you!!

You have dandelions wow that is wonderful. We are just getting grass here. I am hoping that the dandelions will be around soon. Do you make anything with them?

I love the pottery what great art. They will look gorgeous when they are painted.

Your kids are older than I thought. You look so young. :)

I eat the greens in salad, pick it right from the patio! I have also blended greens and flowers in smoothies. Just learned about roasted roots for coffee. So cool! I adore the plant! It's such a nutritious blessing! So many uses many more than I already do. Do you use them? If so, how do you use them?

I love art! Haha -- i am a total artist!! Just need to be brave enough to do more art!! Clay is something my grandmother also loves! Which I just learned. She's in this blog i think, and 92. Looking forward to painting for sure!!

The kids are 13 & 15. And, my step-daughter turned 28 this past week. I am young! Had my kids when I was 13!! Just kidding 🤣😉 This is my 40th spin around the sun! My kids tell me I am very old! LOL.

I use dandelion greens in smoothies and this last year I dried the root for coffee. I make a coffee blend of chickory, dandelion root and cruched up almonds. It is delicious. The actuall recipe also calls for dates for the sweetner but I don't use the dates unless I am making a big batch for company.

Just need to be brave enough to do more art!!

I agree. I enjoy drawing but having the time for one is a problem and brave enough to put my art on steemit, well that may come eventually. As we age we need to do more creating. Most women turn to some form of art. It is good you are doing art. If we don't do something creative then our bodies have a hard time in the transition period from young woman to an elder. Elder doesn't mean someone who is very old.

You look amazing. Our physical ages are not too far apart. You probably look so young because your spirit is so full of youth. Also good health. Your kids are at very interesting ages. I enjoyed those ages, they are the beginning of the transition from childhood to adulthood. I would tell my kids they were in training for adulthood and this is the time for learning and making mistakes. Kids at these ages often flip flop back and forth between the two age groups. As you probably know.

As for you kids telling you that you are very old well that is the perception of kids. That is so great when they have that perception. They are so young they can't see past 25ish. Ah to be so young.

Ahhh! Much wisdom here in your indepth reply! So kind of you to share such wisdom! Thank-you ❤ the dandelion coffee sounds wonderful!! That's very cool and has many health benefits too! Ah, the journey of raising children & our own life's journey too! Leaves me speacheless a lot more as I age! Haha! I always had a remark in my younger years not so much now. Thank-goodness for art! I hope you get brave enough to give it more time on your priority list (i know they are long!) And, share it with us here! Yes!! So liberating! But, i get the 'struggle' i am still trying to get my act together to offer those yoga sessions!! Slow baby steps! 😉

Thank you for the wonderful compliments.

There are a few things that I have learned that I feel need to be shared. For many years I have kept quite about some of the things that I have learned. Now is the time for talking however only when necessary. I still am quiet, I often give the space for others to talk. I know that my views are important but usually many people really want to get their thoughs out. I don't mind listening.

Yes the list is long but in due time it will all come together art and all. Baby steps here too. :)

The yoga sessions will come when it is the right time. Yes baby steps

What a lovely post. What are those berries you have on the patio? Also do ymou make dandelion root coffee? I miss dandelions since coming to Costa Rica, they are such amazing plants, one of nature’s ( many ) gifts.
The cat place sounds nice, I LOVE cats and also miss mine who I had to leave behind. I miss him so much . He is in great hands though with my daughter who sends me photos almost daily by request haha.
It’s not easy being 13 even for the best children, my angel daughter turned quite obnoxious for a few years but has returned to angelic self now in her twenties. Those hormones are killers 🤣🤣
I love the clay work.... little pieces of gorgeousnes

Hi! Thanks for stopping by Sally 💛 The berries are new to me..... They are called cotoneasters pronounced catony asters! LOL i will have to research them and have been meaning to so thanks for asking! Time to get on it! So hard to imagine no dandelions! Maybe I should mail you some seeds.... lol. I have not heard of dandelion root coffee either! Will have to check that out too! It's nice your kitty is in good care and that you get pics regularly. My pup is with my daughter. We are not allowed animals in this rental. She's 15 and enjoys exercising her 'power' so refuses to indulge my incesent requests for pics. Though i know he's in good care. And, we'll be together again eventually. Ahhh hormones 😬 LOL. My poor mom! Raised 5 girls!! Phew!!! Can't wait to paint the clayyy! 👏
