Yesterday I was walking in the park with my girlfriend and I went to buy two ice creams, I was very curious about the story of this delicacy that refreshes us when summer comes and the sun becomes a little more relentless. So I got carried away by curiosity and these were the results.

Its origin does not have a specific place, but we have data from several places in antiquity where ice-cold drinks were created that served as a starting point for its creation.

For example, in ancient Persia, there was a chilled plate in the form of a pudding made of water and it resembled a rice pudding, which was served to royalty. The Persians collected the ice during the winter or in the summer brought it from the mountains and stored it in large vaults that served as a refrigerator, this ice was mixed with either saffron or fruit.
It is also said that the Roman emperor Julius Caesar prepared cold drinks in the form of scrapes or slushies which he drank in large quantities to calm the fatigue left by his great military expeditions.

In China, Emperor Tang used a method to mix ice with milk, and this recipe was passed on to India, Persia, Greece and Rome. But it was precisely in Middle Ages Italy that a navigator, Marco Polo, brought several recipes from the Orient that had been used for years and which were adopted by the Italians with great popularity.

It was in the 16th century that Bernardo Buontalenti invented ice cream in Florence, Italy, and thanks to the support of Catherine de Medici, wife of Henry II of France, his first recipes were introduced in France, then became known in England and finally in America thanks to colonization.

In 1660 Procopio Coltelli opened in Paris the first ice cream parlour in the world called "Café Procope", which at that time was attended by elegant people such as writers, artists and politicians.

Thanks to the scientific and technological advances of the time, the first ice cream machine was manufactured, which is said to have been fitted with a powerful electric motor in 1913.

The air mixed with a low temperature of -40 degrees Celsius and hydrogenated fat is transformed from a liquid to a foaming solid to which flavors and stabilizers are added, resulting in a delicious ice cream.

In the year 1879, the "Ice Cream Soda" was invented in the United States, from where the nacelle appeared and had two origins: one in Italy in 1896 and the other in the United States in 1904. Popsicle ice cream first appeared in Italy at the beginning of the 20th century.

At the beginning of the 20th century in the United States, the ice cream glass or better known as the "Sundae" was born. Its name comes from the word "Sunday", which means Sunday in Spanish, since this was the day when the ice cream glass was served.

This is how today we can enjoy this delicious delicacy in different presentations and multiple flavors, for example my favorite is the Strawberry Sundae and is perfect to enjoy it with my partner while we take a walk in the park on Sundays.

And as if that were not enough, I share a poem with you, wrote Giuseppe Parini, one of the great Italian poets of the 18th century, who was inspired by the delicious and aromatic creams of frozen fruits:
