—¡No, no!

—¡Esplendida idea!

Traumatic experiences were my forte. I don't know how many times I sat in the patient's chair, but I knew almost by heart the script of questions I was waiting to answer.

-Are you feeling well today? -the doctor asked calmly.

-Yes, I am," I replied confidently, although I recognize that my gestures reflected something different.

-I notice something of concern in you, is it because of the change of residence? -she kindly asked.

-No, I'm really fine," I insisted, rubbing my forehead anxiously. I hadn't had water for several hours, and though I had a glass right in front of me, I didn't dare try it for fear that I might get high on some medication.

-Why don't you drink some water? -Do you think I've put any medication on him to calm him down," she said, pointing to the glass in front of me.

I laughed nervously, I thought I was reading my thoughts. I could see in his eyes something different from the other doctors who had treated me. That overconfidence with which I spoke, those rhythmic, elegant gestures. Her appearance was beautiful, her face was delicate and fine. For some reason he couldn't stop looking at the color of his lips and that sweet smile she drew at the end of each question.

-Of course I don't think so! It would be ridiculous if you put something in my drink," I said in a hurry.

-Drink it then, so we can go on.

I looked at the glass with distrust, I timidly stretched out my arm to take it, but then I stopped.

-I'd better drink it later, I think we can go on like this," I replied without even touching the glass.

-Tell me about your dreams, those where you see yourself on a train," he said.

-You mean where the train derails and I die?

-Is there another one?

-No, doctor, that's the only one I'm worried about.

-And why do you care about that particular dream?

My memories began to surface at that moment. I'm not sure if this happened because of the therapist's techniques, I hadn't really done anything new that the other doctors hadn't tried, but I'm pretty sure it wasn't the effect of any drugs.

In my thoughts I went back to the scene of the crime. I could hear the voices of the victims and the sound of the drills. Now I could see every detail meticulously without effort. Finally I could remember everything.

-Mr. Montgomery, are you going to tell me about your dream? -said the doctor to interrupt me. I was in a sudden catatonic state.

-Oh, yes, of course... I mean, no, not this time. Doctor, you must excuse me, but I must go in haste to resolve a pending matter at work.

-But today is Sunday, and there's still time in your office. What's the matter with you? Did you remember anything?

-I... I have to go, excuse me. We will continue tomorrow night as we agreed.

-Please, Mr. Montgomery, sit down, I feel you agitated. Maybe you need a painkiller.

-No, no! I really don't need anything. Don't worry about me, tomorrow... tomorrow I'll tell you about the dream," I said, rushing out of the place. In my flight I didn't notice that I forgot my coat. It was a particularly cold Sunday that winter.

I walked quickly to the parking lot, Charles was surprised to see me return so soon.

-Everything all right? -he asked as I got into his car.

-Yes, all right," I replied dryly.

-Did they finish faster than usual, or did you fire her like the others? -she asked, starting the car.

-She's a beautiful therapist, why would you fire her?

-A beautiful therapist? This is a surprise. You forgot your coat.

-Yes, of course. Right now I have more urgent things to think about.

-Can I take you to Joe's coffee?

-Splendid idea!
