For Ladies Only? A poem (Shakespearean sonnet)
Hi, poetry lovers.
If you like writing poetry and you have an idea you consider interesting, try the sonnet form. It makes musical knowledge --or it makes knowledge musical--, and this alone challenges the notion of poetry. It all makes quite a subversive feel, I like to think :)

So true in Chaucer’s day it was the rule
a “virgin,” “wife,” or “widow” as it should,
a lady would be judged not by her school:
out of three, an “estate” would suit her good.
How barbarous we should think English fellas,
as they knew for a fact genius was male
and long before Freud the weak and jealous
poor women were to lack the brains to bail.
But are men really free from such insights
which seemed to be exclusive for females?
Are they not too deprived from basic rights,
called names like girl or gay or other “fails”?
So true by now medieval days are done.
But still by sex we’re judged while judgment’s gone.
