A story about a boy (Niru) who was raised by his Nigeria parents in America.
He was gay but not openly, untill an encounter he had with his bestfriend (Meredith) that made him opened up.
Things turned around when his dad got to find out that he was gay through the gay app (Grindr) instilled on his phone by Meredith. His dad didn't gave him that chance of really explaining himself, assaulted him and told the clergy about it.
His dad flew him back to Nigeria for prayers with the believe of cleansing him from the spirit of homosexuality and after the prayers they went back to American.
Niru fought with himself for whom he truely is. Self acceptance wasn't for him, and along the line he met someone again he felt attracted to.
Events happened. misunderstandings, one thing led to another and the next shocking news was his death which happened between him and Meredith that was pictured as rape by the authority that shoot him.

#speaknoevil is a book that took me unexpectedly and broke me. I didn't see what was coming forth due to the fact I had the mind that victory would be on Niru's path at the end, just like the saying "there's always light at the end of every tunnel".
I was expecting a happy ending when his death left me speechless. I was like, couldn't they rush him to the hospital before he gave up the ghost?
Wasn't their another better way than shooting at him to stop him?

Talking on Niru's father, he was the most annoying character to me due to his reasoning like when he said, "It's because you treated him like a woman that's why his behaving like this", "A man isn't suppose to be at the kitchen all the time".He was a very gender sensitive man (a typical nigerian man).

On Meredith's part, I expected more from her with what they've both gone through together.
