Largely advocated for developing countries, solar water disinfection is gaining traction in survival circles.

Exposing clear plastic or glass bottles (max. 2 Litres) to sunlight for minimum 1 day will kill or damage most biological hazards. The UV light from the sun is easy to use, inexpensive and offers an 'almost' complete disinfection.

While not 100%, its better than drinking raw water.
