Discovery of a neat locationsteemCreated with Sketch.

I took a location recce day today, up over a village/area called Golcar, in Huddersfield.

It’s for a narrative video for a death metal band that I’m filming on Friday.
I wanted a desolate, lifeless, harsh and alien looking landscape - I think we found it.

It’s a disused stone quarry, which apparently (according to my guide/pal) supplied almost all the stone to the local area over the last 60 years or so.

After they couldn’t get any more stone out of it, it quickly became a spot for dirt bikers and such.
Those activities got slowly shut down for some reason over the years and it’s now just an unused soggy mess.

It should be a perfect setting for some foul hooded creatures to shuffle their way along the landscape in search of their victim.

Bleak stuff, but there will be enjoyment in there somewhere.

I just hoping it doesn’t utterly piss it down with rain on the shoot day.
(it will won’t it?)

Quite apocalyptic! You've got to use it!

Yeah we’re gonna go there - sadly its forecast heavy rain all day for the shoot... so it might have to be another day. Which is gutting because I need everything shot ASAP

That looks like just the place you're looking for. Very barren. But yeah if it rains on the day that wouldnt be good. It looks like that place could create some serious mud. Buy hey, maybe that would be good for the video as well??? Lol

A mud pit would be awesome but sadly would work against up on this shoot!
