Is it ok the show loving affection in front of your kids?
When in a loving relationship affection is an important part of ensuring and maintaining the love you both share but can you just switch that off because you think that the children should not see it?
Do you think that affection could give your children the wrong impressions?
Or are you open to affection, despite who or what may be effected?
I look further into this and give my opinion and reflections on the matter
What difference will it make
We all know that when a relationship starts, things are new an exciting and the need to be around each other hugging, kissing,touching and pretty much hanging off each other like a nap sack. This is what we like to call the honeymoon period!
But what happens when when there are children involved?
That’s when the simple to sexual rule comes into play. Keeping things simple in front of your children like a hug or a gentle kiss, holding hands and/or expressing your feeling’s (keep it PG) is totally acceptable and shows your children that you have a healthy relationship.
This can reinforce your child’s social-emotional development and teach them what a loving relationship means. This will also help the children to feel more safe and secure.
jealousy can be a monster
Although showing affection is healthy, it is important that you also share the love with your children and not become to absorbed with each other.
Jealousy is an emotion that children can pickup and feel at such a young age. Being too envolved with each other and ignoring the presence your children can cause an isolated impression of love and you are now giving your child a negative look of love.
In Summary
It is healthy to show simple and non sexual affection in front of your children. It’s important that your children feel the strength of your relationship too. This will help your children understand love at a young age and will certainly better there experience as an adult.
