Hello dear steemians traveller friends!!!
We continue our search for magical places and today we find one that perhaps the adjective of magical, it falls short.
From the road we can observe its majestic and spectacular architecture that fills us with cravings to wander its streets.

image

The reflection of its bridge in the water reveals a semicircle that draws attention to our photograph @azabacheclaro. The shape of the bridge with an elbow in the middle is due to the fact that its columns are supported directly on the natural rocks that lie in the river bed and as they say, there´s no harm that doesn´t come well, that elbow, over time it was used as a custom office where the percentages of all the merchandise crossing the bridge, was charged, that weren´t few.

image

We leave our car in a near parking and we started to enter to the village trough his majestic bridge that is sustained on the Fluviá River. The origin of this village was its castle, documented from the 10th century and built on top of a hill where are the rests of the canonical de Santa Maria.

image

About the 12th century , also says the documentation, that here Jaws and Christians lived together.

image

We finished crossing the bridge and started to enter in its streets.

image

Going down some small stairs , that allow us access to the footbridge , that borders the river and the wall.

image

There are pieces where over the years have destroyed certain areas of this footbridge and it´s rebuilt in iron parts.

image

How we have seen there´s a kind of quay made of stone in the middle of the river and we headed there because we thought it was a good place to immortalize the moment and have a nice memory.

image

Returning from the quay to enter the urban area we realize that is impossible to stop making photos.

image

image

A little further on returning to the footbridge , we find an iron sculpture. Entering into its history , we discover that this sculpture was made in one of the wrought fairs that is celebrated each year for Holy Week, where blacksmiths of Catalonia meet to show their artworks with iron and steel.

image

Following the footbridge we came across another iron sculpture in the shape of a chair. Work of the Colombian sculptor Duvan Lopez who baptized it as thechair of peace.

image

Its name comes because he made reference to a meeting that the Colombian government had with the guerrilla group of the Farc , to which the guerrilla leader didn´tshow up. So there was an empty chair in this meeting. That´s why we cann´t sit on this chair, the sculptor wants to make us to see that chair is like a peace, it´s must be built.

image

The chair is completely flat , that´s why even if we wanted , we couldn´t sit on it.
We leave behind the sculptures and we enter to the streets of the village. Narrow streets and stone walks.

image

On the way , we find a pizzeria that looks very good but as it very early it´s still closed , we keep going up and we arrive at the Liberty square.

image

image

In it we find ,in one of its corners, a bakery to which we couldn´t resist , seeing its exquisite pastes from outside.

image

We went crazy buying everything . Ensaimadas, croissants, muffins and bread of several types. The truth that was all delicious.

image

We left the bakery and turn left to reach the Monastery of San Pedro square, where we pretend to have a snack with everything we have bought and the weekly market surprised us.

image

Then we take advantatge to buy some fruit and so accompany the delicacies that we buy.

image

We decided to enter the monastery to take a look, and as is normal in these winter season, it´s closed, but through the glass we managed to take a look.

image

The monastery of San Pedro was founded in 977 by the dutch of Besalú and was renewed in 1160. It has a basilical plan with three naves and a large central apse with ambulatory.
Leaving , in the same square of the monastery, at the left side we discovered that someone was staring at us from a window, curious we approach a Dani Masia:
nd we discovered what appeared to be a person , was a doll.

image

Then we realized that this house was a museum, but no a simply museum, on the facade there were some advertising posters.

image

image

We found it closed, but with the great luck that the collector appeared and explained that it was closed for renovations.
We continue walking and we take the street on left of the monastery, going down we arrived to the old hospital of Sant Julia, its purposed was to assist pilgrims who arrived in this village.

image

We return to find another monument of iron forge, which was the homage to the 30 years of Radio Besalú.

image

image

We are ready to leave the village and we get into the commercial street where there´re antique shops on all sides.

image

In one of the shops, there was a iron forged flamenco that reminded me of my friend @flamingirl and I couldn´t resist giving him a kiss, to one day go back to Besalu (like a lioness of Girona)

image

At one of the last streets we discovered an another chair , also work of the Colombian sculptor, but this one, with very long legs. I wanted to climb, but I stayed in the attempt since there was no stair, I guess it´s the meaning that he wants to give it, if the extra polarize to peace.

image

We end our visit here to this village of the middle ages, taking us a very good taste and wainting to go back for a more detailed tour.

image

See you next time dear friends!!
