THE CHRISTMAS CACTUS - Schlumbergera
The Christmas Cactus, or Schlumbergera, has it's origins in southeaster Brazil. They are called the 'May Flower' there for the season in which they bloom in the southern hemisphere. They grow on trees or rocks in high humidity and shade.
This plant lives at my workplace, and enjoys the sun and daylight that comes in the back patio door. It was small when I purchased it, and has grown fairly well. It tends to bloom 3-4 times a year, and seems to also always bloom near Christmas.
