Magic: The Gathering -- Nasty Mono-White Invincibility Combo

in #magicthegathering6 years ago

I've seen quite a few people on here that post about/are interested in MtG, so I thought I would share a nasty combo that I built this mono-color white deck around:

To start with, I have 24 lands in this deck (pretty standard). I have a full set of Savannah Lions that I put in for the early game, I love getting first-turn 2/1 creatures consistently (especially because I have enchantments to beef them up as well):

The first part of this cruel 3-card combo I'm going to show you is the Dawn Elemental:

This thing is nasty all by itself. One huge drawback is the WWWW casting cost, but hey, that's why I made this deck mono-white 😎 It prevents all damage that would be dealt to it and it flies. People cringe when this thing hits the board, which happens often because I bought a full set. But what really makes opponents upset is the second card in my combo, the creature enchant Pariah:

The picture of the distraught fellow on the card resembles my opponents when I drop it on a Dawn Elemental. If you're not connecting the dots here, I redirect all damage done to myself to the Dawn Elemental, which is the creature that doesn't take any damage. Woohoo, I'm invincible! I broke the game :) This combo comes up fairly consistently, but not as much as it could because I only have 2 Pariahs in the deck. If I was going to change this deck in any way, I'd add one more for kicks.

Keep in mind that anyone can still destroy/bury the Dawn Elemental or the Pariah, or lower the Power and Toughness of the Dawn Elemental with -x/-x effects. It is only immune to damage.

And that's not even all. There's another enchantment in here that hugely benefits the Dawn Elemental, Light From Within:

+1/+1 for each white mana in the casting cost. That makes our invincible flying behemoth a 7/7! When all three of these cards are on the table, I strike terror into the hearts of men (and shock women into uncontrolled hysteria).

Other notable cards in this deck:

The Puzzle Box is a game changer that is usable in any confident deck. It's sort of like an Anvil of Bogardan on crack.

Just a great late-game card. Also, it's a foil (oooooooh, shiny!)

Thanks for checking out this combo, nerds! ❤️ Be prepared for a table flip and loss of friends if you decide to incorporate this combo into a mono-white deck.

Some very old cards you are using there, I'm more of an investor than a player these days but do the odd draft or sealed.

Yeah man, I inherited a lot of old cards from my pops. Too bad he sold most of his alphas and betas before I got them ;) Nice, wish I had any money to invest further in Magic. I'm sitting on some value though.

It knowing when to cash in, the reserved list cards are going nuts and continue to do so everyday.

Anything with an * is on this list of never to be printed ever again cards.

Oooooo... I definitely have an Anvil of Bogardan, none of the other ones with astericks though I don't think. I have some other lands similar to Mishra's Workshop, but not the Workshop itself. One of my favorite valuable cards that I still play is my Force of Will 😎 It'll take some time and value increase for me to give that baby up, I love it too much

Its a case of the older the better. I notice an Army of Allah in your picture. Anything from Arabian Nights are going bonkers.

I had a set of Force of Will (Alliances) but sold them over a year ago. The reason? They can and have been reprinted, as they are not on the Sacred List

Value of Force of Will at the time that I sold it: $80

Value of keeping 1 copy to piss off my friends with free counterspells: Priceless

I have some oddball cards from Arabian Nights, but nothing too valuable that I know about. Army of Allah is a great card though.
