That's the last one for the year! Here's an interview with every Malls Baller who was willing to be subjected to my questions last night!steemCreated with Sketch.

in #mallsballers5 years ago (edited)

Above you see picuted the attendees for the last Adelaide Steem meet per year. Those who were willing to go on record were interviewed by me, very brieflly last night, to explain their highlight, lowlight, what they got out of our monthly meets, and what their plans are for next year.

Now, in the order that I interviewed them, let's go!

@wildflowerjessi

Jessi has attended each and every STEEM meet this year with enthusiasm, a warm smile, and is a genuine human being. It's been great to get to know her, and for the first time last night, meet the rest of her family. She blogs about her creative endeavours (mainly Henna!) - life; and has unending positivity on her outlook towards things outside her comfort zone.

**Highlight: **
Gaining cofidence I could actually earn money blogging. Making friends not just online, but in real life too!

Lowlight:
Feeling like I ask too many questions.

What did you get out of the meets?:
A regular connection with people who have become my friends. I have also met people I wouldn't normally meet.

What is your Plan for Next Year?
Travel blogging my way around Australia.

@galenkp

GalenKP is one of our most prolific writers on the blockchain. He has a pragmatic, logical approach to blogging, and is relentless in his pursuit of not being another drone in the daily grind. He's approached our meet ups with enthusiasm, and wins the award for always being best dressed at our Meet ups!

Highlight:
(He's now a dolphin)

Lowlight:
Seeing a direct correlation in the decline of content producers with the price of STEEM. This has made it more difficult to find higher quality content on the platform.

What did you get out of the Meets?:
Having some physicality to the people behind the keyboards. It's nice to see people's faces and communicate face to face, which I prefer.

What is your plan for Next Year?
Understand better the opportunity that STEEM gives us all.

@realtreebivvy

Realtreebivvy has always been great to talk to on any number of topics at the monthly STEEM meets. He's a funny guy, and at the same time, can be very serious in discussing matters impacting blockchain, life, fishing, and he and his family have been the staples that have helped us maintain a high level of attendance each and every month!

Highlight:
"When I could upvote somebody for 49c"

Lowlight
"Currently only having a 0.01c upvote.

What did you get out of the meets?
"Meeting friendly people".

What is your plan for next year?
Post more.

@minismallholding

Minismallholding is another highly active Steemian on chain, and posts about homesteading, being very active in that community. She, along with her family have been responsible for bringing a great bounty of knowledge to our meet ups about these topics; and is among one of the first adopters of STEEM in Adelaide.

Highlight:
The regular Mallsballers meet ups.

Lowlight:
Being able to reward people less with the decline in STEEM power's effectiveness as the price has fluctuated throughout the year.

What did you get out of the Meets?
Meeting a friendly group of positive, open minded people.

What's your plan for next year?
(I foolishly didn't type anything here, failing my job as an investigative journalist for the Adelaide STEEM meet up, November 2018.)

@lordnigel

Nigel is a gamemaster, traveller, and writer. He runs IBT - Interactive Battle Tournaments - which have been responsible for engaging and retaining a whole bunch of Steemains on the platform. He writes about his travelling exploits to afar and exotic locations, and also writes prolific volumes of fantasy stories. He's also a bot master, having been the lead (and only) developer on @frogcake, the #mallsballers community bot.

Highlight:
Getting a curie upvote

Lowlight:
It's a tricky one - good content is buried by the upvote bots, and it is hard to receive organic engagement and rewards.

What did you get out of the meets?
Different people's views on crypto.

What is your plan for next year?
Celebrating some new dolphins and whales.

@shaidon

Shaidon has felt like a very recent addition to our #mallsballers crew; but has very quickly found a home in our group. He is always enthusiastically posting, even in times of "drought" - being relentlessly persistent in a regular video upload schedule, and sharing many, many photographs of delicious food across his STEEM feed.

Highlight:
Being followed by @coruscate and @nathanmars, and finally having become a minnow!

Lowlight:
To rub it in to the other states... that one time where we didn't make double digits in attendance at a monthly meet up.

What did you get out of the meets?
Tips, tricks, and advice - seeing a different cross section of the communities, learning about new dApps on the blockchain, and hearing people endorse (and critique them) all in meaningful ways.

What's your plan next year?
Aim to be a dolphin. Attend an International STEEM meet, using rewards from STEEM to fund the journey.

@mattclarke

Finally, we have @mattclarke - he goes by many names - godfather of Adelaide #mallsballers, hoarder of Flesh Golems, Steem Monster fan, and trusted adviser, confidant and the brains trust behind the monthly meet ups. He's also wanted as an International fugitive for helping @rustle break out of Adelaide Zoo.

He's very pleased that he managed to get everyone to attend something like this, and probably even more pleased that the community he has started to build in Adelaide is becoming stronger and more tight knit every single month we meet.

Highlight:
@rustle evading the authorities and making his way to Steemfest.

Lowlight:
Accidently converting $12USD of SBD into $5 of STEEM.

What did you get out of the meets?
A glowing sense of self satisfaction.

What is your plan for next year?
Build a blockchain parser that looks at people's activity on the blockchain and visually represents this as a view of a city - showing their activity in a way that can be appreciated at a glance. Keep building Adelaide.

@holoz0r (me!)

I like words.

Highlight:
Not having anyone say that I was the lowlight of their 2018 STEEM and Mallsballers experience.

Lowlight:
Not powering up even more STEEM.

What did you get out of the meets?
New friends. Engaging with people I wouldn't normally encounter in my day to day to life. Excellent conversation, and something to look forward to each and every single month. Additional mileage on my car, and strangers wanting to take selfies with it.

What is your plan for next year?
Other than being successful in Steem Monster tournaments, I want to take my content up to a higher level of quality - most notably my video game content. This is my writing background, and I want to ensure that I provide alternative, well structured, articulate, and excellent gaming and editorial content around this field. At the same time, I want to become more proficient in streaming, broadcasting, and video production - which is part of the reason I invested in a new 4K camera earlier this year - which I have barely used. Except to see some more video content (not featuring my beard) in the coming year!

And that's a wrap on the 2018 Adelaide Malls Ballers STEEM meet ups.

Thank you, to each and everyone who has attended. Unfortunately, we missed @o07 on this ocassion, and he'll be here in the comments shortly to post some gifs, I'm sure.

I'm stoked it went well, bigger and better in 2019!

There he is!

Um, where is 7 in the pic? Did he not go? Oh wait, he was working, right? Boo!

This is a great post! I loved reading about all the peeps! I like how you fuzzed out the picture except for the highlighted one. Very hilarious and totally retro. Superfly.

Held against his will by the sandman!

Also not pictured, nerdfury behind the camera, Jessi's husband and four boys, and @joshthomson who couldn't get there till later on. Great turnout. Fantastic vibe.

Over-slept his alarm apparently.

Unacceptable, right? There was nearly a riot when we said there was no bingo!

Oh yeah, that's the thing man, you can't start some shit then not carry it forward. Still, a beer and burger in good company is not a bad thing...Besides, you set me on the right path about the Surface.

Well done mallsballers! Great interview Holo!

I love your community down there. You guys have had a huge year and it shows with so many amazing things coming from Adelaide.

Bring on 2019!!

Thanks! :)

I'm sad I can't make to the Christmas shindig, I would have loved to attend! next year, Adelaide. Book your flights, or get your car serviced. No matter what you do, make sure you're here!

We're gonna try and live stream ;) so all hope is not gone! But yeh, still spew you cant come. I have already told Hubby about next year's party and that we gotta go to Adelaide next year :D

I thought there was supposed to be a fourth question! I was beginning to wonder if I'd answered it and forgotten straight after. Senility setting in maybe. Lol!
