Market Friday goes Cruising

in #marketfriday6 years ago (edited)

Today is #MarketFriday initiated by @dswigle (Denise, that's me!!) I hope you will join me as we share different markets across the globe. I always look forward to seeing what you send me! It is amazing to see so many different markets and different cultures.

IMG_2437.JPG

I have been to so many new places lately! Oh! The curiosity that is attached to foreign ingredients, different produce or any product sold. So, yes! I would love to see yours! Don't forget to take photos wherever you happen to be shopping - whether it be the grocery store, the local marketplace or even an art gallery. Wherever money is exchanged for a service or for merchandise. Be different if you wish! It does not have to be a traditional market! We will love it! I promise you! Don't forget to use the hashtag #MarketFriday and @dswigle.

Because I just got back from two different cruises, I decided to use the ship as my #MarketFriday. There is shopping on board also, but, I will give you a short tour of the ship and try to sell you on taking a cruise. It is not for everyone, some people dislike being on the water, but, I am ready to go again.

But first, a flower. Always a flower.

The loveliness of you never escapes me
May I gaze upon you, always and a day?

This is one of the many lounges and bars they have on the ship. First of all, this is the Anthem of the Seas and it sails out of New Jersey. All of the ships have classes (according to their size) and Anthem is in the Quantum Class of Royal Caribbean ships. There is only one class larger than Quantum and that is the Oasis-class ships owned by Royal also. Their Symphony of the Seas has 18-decks and is 1,188 feet.

That's a lot of ship.

Please leave the link to your post on here so it can easily be found by others. They will all be in one place. Where else can you take such a quick trip around the globe? Thank you! ❤

If you want to buy a bauble, a bangle or a ring or three, fear not! There is a jewelry store right on the ship. One of these snappy young gentlemen standing around is waiting for you.

Or you

Wave technology is used in the Flow Rider. I cannot tell you how many times I have bitten the dust (or water) trying to stand up. I have made it, perhaps 1/3 of the time. Perhaps not even that high. But, if you can stand on a surfboard, you should be able to manage this.

Jump up and give it a try. You know you want to!

There are lounges everywhere, including the hallways. It seemed kind of strange to me at first, but, now I have become accustomed to seeing that kind of sight.

I don't even blink at the sight of it anymore

Who doesn't love bumper cars? This is the first ship that I went on that had bumper cars. It is a huge hit with young and old alike. You should see grandpa ramming grannie with his car. Incidentally, the pink one is mine. Right next door, you can sign up for trapeze class. You climb up to the platform and practice falling and then they teach you to swing. Yes, I did. Yes, it was... Totally cool.

OMGosh! For real!

20180301_173737.jpg

The gym! As if you couldn't guess! It takes up a whole floor and has every piece of equipment imaginable, and then some. You may eat every six hours while you are cruising, but, they expect you to work it while you are there.

20180301_205456.jpg

The iFly! Such an amazing piece of equipment. It uses a machine to simulate the experience of skydiving without the fear.

Royal Caribbean gives us three or five free spins on the slot machines at the casino. I don't gamble, but, I can be bought for three free spins.

Note: As an aside, I won! - it was only $1.75, but it is mine

Art Auctions can be a fascinating way to collect art while you are sailing. They usually only hold art seminars (where they teach you about art and artists) on sea days. Even so, there is so much to do, you almost don't want to get off. :)

The service is the best. Absolutely. Who could ask for anything more? Thank you for taking the short tour through some of the ship. It is far too huge to give you the whole tour and I don't want to bore anyone to tears! Thank you so much for being a part of #MarketFriday!

Don't ever forget what wonderful world we live in, people. Let's hold hands around the globe and make this earth really spin. Some days, it is not as easy to see, so we must try harder to give everyone the proper focus.

Sort:

That does look pretty cuush, and totally glorious whiling away your time on the high seas. Never been on one, but I'm signing up to hide in a Steamer Trunk down in the hold, next to the one with OGP's tucked away, so we can pop out once we clear the 200 mile limit, and then have a whopping good time. Oh, just imagine.
Maybe one day. Thanks for showing us around the amazing vacation sights. Aren't humans amazing, they think of ALL the odd, crazy things to do for FUN. Skydiving and surfing in place. Go figure. Have a nice night.

I could see us putting a good sized dent in the food provisions...right before they threw us in the brig of course LOL!

Eating does look rather divine on the boat...and I'm sure we would still find a way to have fun, even in the brig. Maybe teaching them songs like The Flintstones, or 99 Bottles of Beer On The Wall. Oh, what cutting edge scofflaws we is...

Oh my God! I would be delighted to have you throwing into the mix of things. I Can Only Imagine breaking you out and how much fun you would have. I promise you I would push you down the big slide where you would be screaming like a little girl all the way down. I'm only kidding. You probably wouldn't be screaming but laughing in Delight.

I can see that your coworker and you plan for a takeover of the dining room. I think that you would be better off if you just slid into one of the chairs and just let them serve you. It's an all you can eat whatever you want to eat kind of place. I didn't like the menu one night and so they brought me prime rib and lobster tail along with a side of veggies I like the way they think.

Thank you for stopping by and for the delightful visit. You are always a hoot and a holler to have around.

@ddschteinn

I'm pretty sure we could get into a whole lot of trouble of fun. Though all that eating would no doubt slow me down in the shenanigan department. Can't imagine all you can eat every 6 hours. What a joy. I've always thought that if OGP and I lived in the same area of the world, we could have a whole lot of fun. He is a real hoot. As are you, I always enjoy your discussions as well. (And as for screaming like a little girl, you are probably right 'on' that one.)

Actually, in all honesty, you can eat 24/7 if you want it. I have to run away from the food because otherwise they keep serving you and keep serving you. Truly they do.

I am sure that you and the old guy could be a boatload of fun and I honestly enjoy every single one of your post and comments. To my dismay, I miss so many of your posts and by the time I get around to reading them they are over and I cannot vote. But I think that I will be staying home and abandoning vacation for a little while. So so, now I'm waiting for you to write again just so I can come over and pester you.

Oh yes, you two are a real Hoot and Holler.

But we'd have a monkeybarrel of fun, before we got tossed. All that food, just imagine. I certainly wouldn't step a toe in the pool though, I'd sink for sure. But what a way to go ( :

When I read Quantum Class I thought we were going into some kind of weird physics deal. One minute it's there next minute it's gone (quantum joke lol)

I noticed that the gym was pretty empty and I would love to see you on the wave rider. It looks like a lot of fun.

Here's my pearl of a post

I would love nothing better than to show you my failures on the Wave Rider before I could stand up and show my stuff off. It's one of those things that once you get the hang of it you're good, but you're pretty embarrassing as you are making your way to that point. All in fun, I assure you. I did have someone take a shot of me on the iFly but I didn't bother telling anybody that that was me as it's not my best shot. How vain can we be, right?

The gym was pretty empty because it was not even 5 a.m. and I wanted to get it before I went for a run. I don't use the gym for that, I prefer to use the outside track. It's nice that they have a track for all the runners on the top deck. It makes for a very pleasant morning to start with a little bit of salt air and sunshine. I understand what you mean about Quantum and I had to Blink twice when I heard the name of the class. Incidentally, it is a beautiful ship and I really do like it but the sheer size of it is just a little bit too big for me. I believe it's the size of three American football fields. So if you walk towards one end of the ship and remember that you are dining room is on the other end you have done your 10,000 steps for the day.

Thank you for visiting my humble Market Friday and I appreciate you taking the time and effort to put a post together. I'll be along any minute now and I hope you have a fabulous weekend

Wow, that looks wonderful! I love all the different things you can do and the food looks tremendous (I'm always very interested in the food)😎. Here's my post for #marketfriday - a trip to my local shops. Thank you @dswigle and happy #marketfriday!

Thank you so much and I can honestly say that he has been a most wonderful time that I have spent here. I cannot thank you enough or stopping by to comment and for participating in Market Friday. Thank you for being here for me, so I can be here for you.
Enjoy your day and stay creative!
Botty loves you. <3

I am sold! Sign me up! I think we need to revisit the stowaway idea again ;) Great shots of course and we all know the destinations are pure heaven!

You and me both! I think I was born for that life! There is something redeeming about sitting and relaxing your day away. Of course in saying that there is always something going on and people are so nice to you. And I'm not talking about the ones that get paid. I'm talking about people in general, who are happy just to be away and on vacation.

The destinations want as Fabulous As the last cruise but I will admit that there is nothing bad about any Cruise. They are all amazing. I just know that you're going to have to break open that piggy Bank and bring those kid beds on a family cruise.

You know you won't regret it!

The size of cruise ships amazes me these days a city on the water with so much to do

Here is my post for this week

https://steemit.com/marketfriday/@tattoodjay/market-friday-farmers-market

You know what, JJ? I happened upon cruising by accident but once I started, I felt like it was an easy way to get away and relax and be entertained all the same vacation. I'm picky or now on the itineraries yes, because I have found that some of the cruise lines have exploited some third world countries without Really adding any benefit to the country. Well that may well be my own opinion, but it's my money so I can spend it anyway I want. It would be nice if some of the money that is spent in the country would truly go to the people, but in the third world country, they tend to build their own Villages and the people are too intimidated to get out and see the real thing. I know that sometimes it is not the safest thing to do but I am always careful and I will go in search of what it is really like over staying in these pre-built tourist traps.

Definitely that doesn't sound like much of a boost for cruising but it has its place and I will be the first to admit that the entertainment is top-rate the food is the best and I will be doing it again again. Now, we just have to drop Lulu into seeing if this way. Thank you so much for dropping by and always participating in Market Friday. I always appreciate it more than you will ever know

If I was to do cruises I would also be picky for exactly the same reason, I have read about some countries being exploited by Cruise lines and I also would not go on those cruises.
I see no reason why the cruise lines cannot give some back for all the money they make

@tattoodjay: I absolutely agree with you and for that reason did become more selective. The country that probably bothers me the most is Haiti because they have a chain link fence crossing over to keep the locals out of their private area. Land which they leased. There are little kids that stick their hands through the fence and ask for something to eat. You have no idea how much that breaks my heart, but having worked in that type of sector, I also realize that for some it is simply a scam. Not being able to tell the difference from this distance, I remain troubled about it, but I do intend on taking the time to explore it a little bit further. Thank you so much for taking the time with a response to my long-winded thoughts

Well Princess I am happy to report I got my MF done, albeit a bit late. This is not an easy challenge for me, but I always enjoy doing it!

https://steemit.com/life/@old-guy-photos/yikes-fall-is-right-around-the-corner

Okay Sally be lately. I should be used to it by now. LOL I'll get right on it.

Now that's living. When I first saw cruising I that you were in a 57' Chevy. lol

Oh that is too funny! A 57 Chevy. The only thing that brings to mind is American Graffiti. I must to admit that just watching that movie was kind of exciting and I could see myself living in that era.

According to my sources, that was the best time ever. Thank you so much for stopping by and putting a little humor into the market Friday. You are always fun to have and I appreciate you taking the time

Cruise ships are such fascinating places. They fit so many different things to do in a compact space that floats on water. The bumper cars look fun. I'd probably find myself there if I were on your cruise. The art auction is interesting. I'd love to see all the pretty paintings too.

They are absolutely are fascinating little places, aren't they? Where else can you get a Broadway play, five-star dining, a Disney like atmosphere with parades and parties every symbol mine all wrapped up into one vacation? We can't forget about the huge water slides and the classes to teach you how to make cupcakes Sushi and the art classes so that you have a better understanding of Art. And then of course, they have options which are always fun to go to. I don't think that cruising is for everybody, but at this point in my life, my busy lifestyle. I have even seen people on board that cruise for two and three and four months at a time. I'm pretty sure that my sea legs would give out by then you never know. I can tell you that I'm never ready to leave the ship when it's time to go and I usually cruise for two weeks at a time.

Thank you so much for dropping time Market Friday. It's always nice to see you here and it is delightful she catch a comment from you. You are an awesome, enter and I just want to let you know that.

I am sold too! Can I retire and live on board? It looks like so much fun and added bonus every week or so you get to meet new people!

Believe it or not, there are actually people that do live on board. They say it's cheaper than going to a rest home it, but I don't believe I will ever have to go to a rest home because nobody in my family ever has and I don't think they're going to start with my generation. The one never knows and if that should ever happen I am going with living on the ship. I have actually cruised for 3 weeks in what they call a back-to-back so they are two separate cruises but I stay on the same ship. You are exactly right because the people change and you now have a whole new interesting group to converse with. I have found that by Nature people are interesting and so different from one another. I have met some of the most fascinating people this way and usually it is by a person that is over the age of 70. I cannot help but think it's because of their experiences in life that makes them stand out to me, but they usually have lived in a different time doing different things and the world has changed so much that it makes it fascinating for me.

Tell you what... Why not we agreed to meet and liver board one of these wonderous ships.

Thank you for dropping by. It is always wonderful to see you and I appreciate it.

An old folks home would not be for me! I think the two of us would have a fabulous time living on a cruise ship! Look out world! Here we come!

How about if we wait until we get old enough and by then I will be ready. Oh heck, why wait? I think I'm ready to do it now. Let's pack our bags and go! Woohoo! Here I come.

Sounds like a plan!
