Market Friday Goes to Camping World

in #marketfriday5 years ago (edited)

Today is #MarketFriday initiated by @dswigle (Denise, that's me!!) Join me as we share our markets across the globe. I always look forward to seeing what you send me! It is amazing to see different markets and cultures of our friends here on steemit,

Please leave the link to your post on here so it can easily be found by others. It helps you and me to have them in one place. Where else can you take such a quick trip around the globe? Thank you so much for joining us!! ❤

It goes against the grain in the real world to stop working before your time. Your time being old enough to retire. I know there are people that do it, but, for the most part, people continue with the expected path. But what if you could take the road less traveled, create your own journey? Live your life out without fear of running out of money? So many things to consider. I have always traveled, in some capacity, whether through work or on my own. After spending a long time pondering the whole point of life and what I still want to do with it and how to make it count best, I have decided that I will most likely buy a travel trailer to tour the US, including Alaska. I will be detouring outside the US, but, I will be making plans to travel and blog as I go, which is really quite exciting to me. I have no date, but, I have set a date to stop working. How much money do I need to be happy? That took a while to be realistic and figure out, but, I did it. And I am ready. Of course, now I have to look for a travel trailer that will allow me to wander about and be comfortable. I do not want it as a permanent place. I already have a house and I will definitely keep it as a home base. And yes! I am a little excited! How about you and me take a look and see a few of the motor homes I looked at, at Camping World.

MF8.jpg

I shouldn't have shown this one first, but, this excited me a whole lot. It had an amazing layout and two sets of stairs. What??? I know, right? This was the kitchen. Full-size everything, including stove, refrigerator, oven, and microwave. You can see the faucet, but, the counter on the island has a cover over the sink to make more space for meal preparation. So you also have a sink, but, you will have to wash your own dishes. Sorry.

MF9.jpg

If you scroll back to the first picture, there is a small set of stairs on the left side of the screen. These walk up into the living room. It has a for-real living room. Two sleeper couches (for the company) that were leather facing each other. In between, is a fireplace... hello... I am not kidding. But, then, there is a pop-up television in the back of that. To complete the scene, there is a double set of leather recliners that have footrests and it even massages you. That is it, there will never be any pictures taken... Oh, did I say that there are five push-outs or slides to make this bigger? That is why it looks so big. Pushed in, the couches almost touch one another. Without them, it is merely a travel trailer.

20190309_132654.jpg

This is what you call a fifth-wheel. You need a truck to hitch it on to and in actuality, it is very easy to handle. The good thing is that you can unhook your trailer when you get somewhere and take the truck. That is a plus. (I keep telling myself that)

I have never liked fifth wheels. I have a weird aversion to them. I cannot even tell you why. But, I figure that God or the Universe is punishing me now because this is like the answer to it all. And I like it. Ugh!

The open doors are where storage is. Lots of storage! An embarrassing amount of storage. It is not a house, just temporary travel. But, there you have it. I think it could easily stow away a dozen or more people.

MF10.jpg

This is the other part of the living room with the lounge chairs. So, there is a nice little conversation corner to make it all cozy. I think I would need to put a coffee table in there. There is actually too much space. Did I really say that?

20190309_132813.jpg

These are the automatic level jacks. It levels your trailer when you park it. So you are not walking uphill or downhill or sleeping on an incline. I have slept that way a few times! I even lived to tell... but what if you didn't have to??? Quite handy.

image.png

Guess what?? Self-sustaining!! It is solar! I have no idea why that surprised me, but it did. That makes me love it more.

MF11.jpg

It has a separate bedroom with a king size bed. Oh, I can sleep like a starfish if I want! There is a large closet with the double mirrors and a washer/dryer combo in the door with the louvers. Now, as much as I don't want a washer in there, I will take one for the team because I dislike laundromats worse.

Did I say there was another big screen television in the bedroom? Well, yes there is!

This actually rolls out and is made of steel. It is in the back of the trailer. You can put all sorts of outdoor toys in there, including Denise's kayak. It is ten or twelve feel long. I cannot remember which, but, it was huge. Why did I not like the fifth wheel again?

This is the outside of the trailer and you can see how much larger it can get by pushing out (they are electric) the slides. It goes from trailer to home with the push of a button. Also, you can see where Denise will be blogging. Her chair and a pull-out desk from the dashboard that fits a laptop. They think of everything!

Oh, steem on!

STOP!! BRAIN TEASER AHEAD!!

In a one-story house, there was a pink person, a pink cat, a pink fish, a pink computer, a pink chair, a pink table, a pink telephone, a pink shower. Everything was pink! What color were the stairs?

source

Answer: There weren't any stairs, it was a one-story house.

I have been to so many new places lately! I love to share and be shared with! I have always and forever liked to see different fruits and vegetables or products that are being sold. Perhaps I cannot get them here. So, yes! I would love to see yours! Don't forget to take photos wherever you happen to be shopping - whether it be the grocery store, the local marketplace or even an art gallery. Wherever money is exchanged for a service or for merchandise. Be different if you wish! It does not have to be a traditional market! We will love it! I promise you! Don't forget to use the hashtag #MarketFriday and @dswigle.

MF2.jpg

This is another camper. It is what they call a Class C. It means that the trailer is on a truck chassis and you drive it. Okay, to be fair, it is a very strong, large truck. The layout was nice and it was more compact, which is not a bad thing either. You are not going to live in it forever, so do you really need all that room?

It also had a nice drivers cab, comfortable seats and very nice tiles on the floor. It also had some carpet, but, actually like the tile more. The big screen was kind of oddly placed, given the placement of the couch, but, this also had push outs that were not out, so it got quite a bit bigger. I really did like this one too.

MF5.jpg

It had a pretty standard dining area, although the cushions were very comfortable. You could lean against the back of the seat and put your feet up if you wanted to. Not that I ever do that!

MF6.jpg

This had a nice stove/oven/backsplash in it. It also had a full-size refrigerator and oak cabinets. It has a lot of nice features that are there, but, after seeing so many of these, I almost don't see them. I have stars in my eyes from shopping for them

MF7.jpg

Wasn't the outside pretty? There was the one push out. The other side had two. That alone almost doubled the space. Incredible what they do to these vehicles now.

MF.jpg

MF13.jpg

This was a Class A, which is an all in one drivable one. That is what I was originally looking for. It is well appointed, compact and even has a push out. Just one, but, it really made a huge difference in size.

20190309_133818.jpg

You can see above the driver's seat that there is another pull-down bed. If you don't need it for guests, you can always use it for storage or just push it up and it will make the cab part bigger. Your choice. It also has a nice pull-out computer desk, so if you have a driver, you can relax and look out that huge bus size window and admire our wonderful earth. She is a beauty! So much to see, so much to do.

20190309_133710.jpg

This was a real hit with me! It had an outdoor entertainment package. Big Screen TV and BBQ grill plus a nice awning to pull down for shade. It even had a place to put ice for keeping them cold. I just know a man designed the outside of this.

20190309_133806.jpg

Queen size bed and a nice sized room with no waste. However, it did push out, so you could easily make the bedroom roomier if you so chose.

There was a big screen television. I'm sorry. Aren't we out with nature? What is it with these televisions all over the place? Each vehicle had 3 or 4. That is easily twice the amount I have in my house. And probably bigger too. Ha!

20190309_142720.jpg

This section are some of the features I saw on various recreational trailers, some of which I went through and looked at them. I couldn't believe it but it had a double sink in the bathroom in one. Yes. Again... I am not going to live there. Skip this extra!

This was a rather unique feature. Well, perhaps unique is not the right word I liked it because it was a space saver AND it had both the washer AND dryer. In the bathroom. Out of sight. Booya!

image.png

Full size refrigerators in all of the recreational vehicles that I looked at. That really surprised me, but, I have found that with all these push-outs, they really can fit so much more in them.

20190309_130557.jpg

I would say that this was a typical bathroom. Very compact, yet, it has everything that you need. The sinks have Corian, as a matter of fact, all of the kitchens had Corian on the counters also. I forgot to mention that up there.

They were all generous with their counter space and as you can see for yourself, all Corian. This made them so much more luxurious looking. Or at the very least... durable!

20190309_135812.jpg

Many of them had ladders that went up to an extra bunking area. In the world of recreational vehicles, this was a definite plus! One can never have enough places to sleep.

image.png

This was definitely an adorable little guy! Perfect for a single or a couple and I am sure, lots of fun and better than a tent, right? Although, I always like camping, so ...

image.png

You open up the backside and there is a stove and a cooler. Cool, right? It really tickled my fancy! I would have done anything to have one of those a few years ago!

image.png

Yes!!! It has a bedroom, enough for two! Or two and a baby... Well, you know what I mean. It was spacious and plenty of room to go around for everyone!

image.png

Aptly named: The Little Guy

If you actually got to the end, kudos to you. I didn't mean to make it so long, but, it happened and then, last night Busy went down and took it with her. Ohhhhh! Well, I can say that I thank you for visiting #MarketFriday and I appreciate all who post into the tag, or even come over and comment. It is a pleasure and I trust you will have a most amazing day! And people, please! Keep on Steeming and spreading that love!

So... Which one did you pick?

They sure are nice. As nice as many regular homes! That Little Guy reminds me of the Dewdrop ones from back in the day.

I can see pros and cons to each of course. Maybe a 5th if you already owned a nice diesel pickup. However then I would miss being able to walk in the back and grab a drink or something. Maybe a nice diesel in a medium size. You know big is nice, but also harder to drive and maneuver. Of course mo re fuel and a sizable price tag to start. It is something I could see taking months and months of really taking notes and comparing to get it right. But hey, I always enjoyed the shopping aspect of the deal. Great post as always!

Truly! When I see the price tag/fuel costs, I know that a lot of shopping will be done. I mean, it would be foolish to think I can get away with walking into a lot and pointing, right?

Although, honestly! Wouldn't that be a lot easier? I do like the thrill of the hunt, but, I also need to find what will be right. It is so much more fun to look at what will not fit in my purse! LOL

I don't own that nice diesel pickup so that would be a minus, but, the extra room would be a plus... plus, it could unhitch. Like you said, going in back and grabbing a drink is a nice thing as opposed to having to stop. A plus is being able to use the ladies room without having to stop somewhere also! To be fair, I can think of as many good things with each as bad. Which totally makes it harder to decide.

I know that I will be hovering until something strikes me. Thanks for stopping over and reading it! ;) I know it was a long one!

!tip

Well as you know using the ladies room is not just flush and forget though. Of course that is all part of the fun experience! Take this free lesson from Robin Williams:

Oh, really? Who knew!

This was pretty much something I didn't need to know!!! Ewwww! I am so glad that I didn't see this! LOL

Well you need to know LOL!!! Dont use a spliced line LOL!!! I know when I used Gramps motorhome back in the day, we used the "in house" facilities as little as possible. Oh you dont have to worry. I am sure there is always some guy there to help do it for you like at the gas pumps OMG, you just have that look :D

Oh, now I remember why I tell you nothing!!! You publicly out me! Boo-Hiss!

OMG some states they do it for everyone you lil diva lol!

I've been told I'm a bit of a fifth wheel, now and then. But I'm not sure this is what they mean. Love all the cool mobile homes. They ARE amazing. Nicer than my house by far. Tough choice, though that 5th wheel would be nice, it's a gorgeous place to live, and you have a truck once you get where you're going. Get a bike friday to go along, and gaziingaloo.
I love all the TV's. Though the last few times I've camped in a campground, you see the big RV, with a roaring fire out front, and everyone is inside, watching the tube. Kind of sad, actually. Could have stayed home and done that. Oh the roughing it lifestyle. Then again, to each his/her own. As long as they're not bothering others, whatever might be will be.
That is a TOUGH choice looking at all of these. Each has it's own charm. Though if you're going to live in it, bigger would be better. Everything shrinks, once you live in it and collect things as you go. Thanks for taking us on the shopping look with you. It's fun to live vicariously through you and your travels. Have a peachy Saturday, what is left of it. Cheers.

Oh, nooooo! This is not to live in! This is merely to travel from here to there and back again. I want to take a trip to all the National Parks and to Alaska (for three months) so... I want to get one and use it for a bit and then sell it, because it is actually cheaper than renting one.

I don't put my tv on at home hardly, except to watch Jeopardy. :) So, even though I showed you the large 5th wheel, I probably wouldnt get one. I would have to buy a proper truck to haul it.

Class A with a few pushouts to maximize the space. They aren't that big until you press that button and make them grow! I used to use just a sleeping bag when we all went camping, not even a tent, but, things are different in our world now.

It's funny how everyone thinks I am moving to a motor home! Yikes!!! I love my home, sweet home! :) And thank you so much for stopping over!!! I'm so afraid I am not getting over to your place and you will trash me along with yesterday's newspaper. I have got to get over there! I do miss your words!!!!

!tip

I DID read that, but thought you meant you would be living in it for extended periods of time. Like a month or four in a gorgeous national park. I've always wondered what it would be like to be a campground host. You get to stay for free, and jabber with all the folks. One of my hobbies. Talking to new people about life. Though it might also be a pain, and you have to 'be there'. So maybe just putzing about as usual is better. Hmm, food for thought. And I can see not giving up a major residence, that would be hard to do. Always need a place to come home to.

Plus, the more you drive your 'home' around, seems it would fall apart faster. Just by a lot of hard use. So, wise choice. And buying and selling it later makes total sense. That way you recoup some of your coin. Like buying a slightly used car instead of brand spanking new.

So glad to always chat, and I would never toss you out like an old newspaper ( : I can fully relate, I'm lucky to get a vote in on time, let alone decent comments. I'm always voting in blocks, since my vote power wanes fast. I'd like to get on autovote, to be more timely, but it seems kind of cheap. And I'm not a big fan of the bots.
As for not getting to stuff, life does sometimes get rather busy, and the things I DO choose to do on here seem to take a lot of time. Be it writing or photo essays. I'm working on a whole photo series on the snow, it takes DAYS to finish. Whinge whinge whinge. But it so much fun.

I'm quite sure you haven't missed much in the world of DDS postings. Just a long 28 minute 5 minute freewrite recently went out. Hope they don't toss me out of the club like your paper, since I do long ones. But it's just what I do for those. They give a nice starting point for a longer piece. Hence my 'Disclaim-iere' at the bottom. Feel that makes it more honest. Well, here's to a bonny good Saturday night. Keep smiling, and bugging OGP. Makes me laugh...
Thanks for the tips too, very kind indeed.

Awwww !! You are the sweetest! Thank you. I am still working on #MarketFriday which is why I am seeing this. Yes, there will be periods of one month and three to Alaska - a leisurely drive up and a month of fun up there! I want to hop on the Denali Train!! and then a leisurely trip back. If I go out west (actually WHEN) I go back out west, there is always time to see some friends and transplant family, then on to Zion National Park and the Arches. Oh, there is so much, and back to the Redwoods. Most of these are revisits, but, this time with more time and patience and I won't be correcting a toddler or three. :)

I was reading that 28 minute freewrite this morning, as I was waking up and didn't finish because the smoke alarm went off. (Low battery) Took me an hour to get the ladder and change it.

Sigh. Why not, right?

Hehe... Bugging him is my job. You know. I should get paid for that. :)

Have a most wonderful night and give HH a how-do from me!

Ohhh! But, you can get bad neighbors there too, but, then you can just move, right?

My goodness me - these are beautiful! And they all have better kitchens than I have! It's wonderful to have all the facilities, but I think I would like something a little cosier :)

Here's my contribution for this week.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Oh, they have cozy!! Just for you @shanibeer! I could not show them all, I just chose three out of like 30. The cozy was smaller and more plus, with fireplaces and just remember that these are not HOUSES but, they are a means to travel so you can camp right at your spot.

Hey!! Thank you so much for checking out my #MarketFriday post and putting in one of your own! I am very excited to check it out! I hope you have an amazing weekend!

!tip

They all sound gorgeous, I was interested in the push out idea - very clever :). I don't know how you are going to make a decision, but it is great fun investigating!

Posted using Partiko Android

I know!!! Isn't that the truth! Those push outs made the entire thing go from recreational vehicle to a home on wheels. No kidding.

Not that I would ever want to live in one, but, you could!!! They have made so many upgrades and amazing features. Solar was pure genius! You can be self-sufficient!

Half the fun is the thrill of the hunt! Yes!! Thank you again @shanibeer

Cool post.

Wonderful! What is not to love on it, right? Especially given the fact that it is only for road trips and camping! The decor is awesome, I just don't know how I feel about towing one. I am sure I will figure it all out over time!

Thanks so much for dropping by and I hope you have an amazing night!

What you have posted here would be everyone's dream i guess. Who wouldn't love a motor home like that? It looks fantastic and have all the luxury you need, even more I guess.
Here is my entry to this week's MarketFriday Handmade Art At The Craft Market, Part 2 - MarketFriday

Well, it was several different ones, and even though I went out to look, of course, I will present nice ones, right? What fun would that be if I didn't? It is fun to dream a little bit and who knows? Maybe I will win the lottery or someone will give me one for my birthday. ;)

It was a lot of fun to see what they are doing with motorhomes nowadays. I was actually surprised by all the luxury that is offered up! Thank you for taking the time to read this one! It was a really long one and I am sorry about that!

!tip

Don't worry, sometimes I do the same, I look at furniture or other products I have no intention to buy because it feels good. Besides, it's free and we have to stay updated, isn't it?

Absolutely! In the name of #MarketFriday! Yes! :)

I'm back at the Korean store this week Denise, @dswigle. I hope you like it :)

https://steemit.com/busy/@fitinfun/market-friday-cannot-leave-the-korean-store-kuala-lumpur-malaysia

My aunt and uncle traveled like that all over the us and Canada for about 20 years. They had vehicles like you are looking at - not so posh! It's a fun way to go. They stopped for a month or two at a time. I know you will like it with your wanderlust.

Hi, Sharon!!! It will be fun, but, it will be probably a month on the road and a month overseas and home for a few... Rinse, repeat.

At this point, the only thing certain is I need to start having some long term fun before I wake up one day and say... hello? How did I get this old and still working! Well, not really, but, I want to quit while I am young and can enjoy life. :)

So many people do it full time and have fun. I have kids and one going to get another degree in the fall, so hey, they are a consideration. :)

I am excited to see the Korean store again! Your posts are always and forever fun and I so appreciate all the time and effort spent making an awesome #MarketFriday post! Thank you!

Hope all is well in your world and Happy Saint Patrick's Day!
