Market Friday , is buying online a market?
This is a post for Market Friday hosted by @dswigle, if you haven't followed her yet you should she is one of the kindest and most supportive people here on Steemit, a comment from her is like a ray of sunshine on your page.
For this weeks post I thought I would share something way off track perhaps, but online buying is perhaps becoming the biggest markets in the world so I am justifying it that way.
And this story is a bit of a saga with ups and downs, so here I go
Now I am starting with a photo that should perhaps be at the end of the story, but it's more interesting than the other photos I will share in this post.
The story starts with me finally deciding to order a new lens, the Sony 90mm Macro the local store did not have it in stock so I ordered it from Amazon and selected the Amazon day option where you can pick the day of the week you want the item delivered and I picked Saturday as I am not home on work days, and wanted to be there when it came., I was kind of excited on Saturday but was surprised in the morning when its status had not changed from ordered to Shipped, even on Saturday Morning, but I remained hopeful, until
I received an email about 2 pm on Saturday with the message above, to say the least, I was a bit frustrated, that I had to wait till Wednesday for it to arrive, so I shot an email off to Amazon venting my annoyance.
About midday Monday I had not received any updates from Amazon and was a little annoyed, but then I got an email saying it had shipped and would be delivered on Wednesday, not long after I got an email from UPS saying it would be delivered on Tuesday.
Which spurred me to call Amazon and let them know I was not a happy camper with the delay and wondering why, in short the call went well, they offered a good refund on what I had paid for the inconvenience, about 15% of what I had paid, so I felt a little better, The times I have used them in the past they have always met scheduled delivery so I am very happy with the support they provided and the refund even though the item was delivered later than originally expected.
Tuesday came and I found that the package had arrived at 5 AM in the City next door to the city I live in, so I thought it may well be delivered and I was that's cool I may get it today, ( by today I mean Tuesday when I saw the update), but with this lens it seems nothing is ever that easy LOL
As you can see from this screenshot of the tracking page, a few hours later the lens was on the move again, but not to be delivered it was on its way to Shrewsbury MA about 120 Miles from where I live, which seemed kind of bizarre to me, and I have no idea why it went of this strange route through Shrewsbury and Hartford CT, back to Stratford CT for delivery.

But come Wednesday the box was delivered as you can see in the shot above
And here is the open Box, with the Sony Orange packaging around the lens
And here is the Lens, it is rated as one of the best Macro Lens on the market and is also good for other types of photography including portraits, something I don't do often but maybe now I can try some

And I thought the post would not be complete without a shot taken with the lens, nothing fancy just a macro shot in bad light of a Sony lens cap.
Its the only shot I have taken with it so far as it is pretty cool out and I have a busy work week with meetings most of the day, so I haven't been taking it with me into the city, but on the weekend I sure do plan on checking it out more.
I did plan to do some more test shots but its been a crazy busy week and I have not had a chance to play with it anymore since it arrived., but this shot does show how tight the focus area is when it is used at an aperture of 2,8

Yes it’s nit cheap about $1k but it is built pretty solid I hope to give it a good test this weekend

Amazon is funny. I ordered some tea the other day, two bags of loose (I do it ole' school) and they were coming from the same vendor and I got them a day apart in HUGE boxes with lots of plastic. Odd, that. I mean why not ship together? and so much packagin. But, I guess robots aren't always the most logical, oddly enough.
I am looking forward to trying it out, Have a few things to get done tomorrow but I hope I get some time to play with it.
Yeah Amazon and UPS with shipping can be funny sometimes, I guess some computer Algorithms assign how things will be shipped sometimes they get it right but other times its quite bizarre like with the lens and your tea
Online Market is a market after all... I guess @dswigle would be happy seeing you shooting with your new lens... 😀😀😀

Thats true and @dswigle is very easy going on what constitutes a Market i have stretched the interpretation of what is a market many times lOL

LOl When it started heading away from CT at that one stage I wondered myself if it was off on a World Tour LOL

I will for sure have fun with it cannot guarantee fabulous shots but will do my best, I think I will use it more when it warms up a little its a heavy lens so I wont carry it with me all the time while its cold and I wont get out for photos much, but that said the forecast is for some warmer days next week, its funny at the start of Winter a mid 40 degree day feels so cold now I am looking forward to those temps LOL
Do you need a tri-pod or has built in stabilizer?
It Does Have Stabilization i the lens plus my camera has in body Stabvilization so all in all 5 axis Image Stabilization, but for some shots I will most likely use a tripod especially if I decide to try focus stacking

Online shopping can be very frustrating indeed. I try not to for the fact that you can’t see what your getting and if you have to return it for some reason it becomes a series of unfortunate events haha. Nice lens tho! Can’t wait to see what you capture with it. Steem on :)

Yes I to much prefer going to a shop and buying for most things, but I was keen to get it and the local camera shop did not have it on hand, and it came with some extras for the same cost so I decided to go for it online, and with the refund it ended up a real good deal :)
Looks like it is going to be a nice addition to your collection! I can't wait to see some of the macro shots you take a with it. Amazon shipping has definitely gotten worse over the past couple of years.
Yes Indeed i did have a Macro with my Petx gear that I see fairly regularly so Looking forward to trying this one out
For the MOst part i have had good service with Amazon SHipping and the refund made the delay acceptable for me :)
