The problem with Crypto, Blockchain and Distributed Ledger Technology is that their perception is boring and meaningless to the outside World.

Marketing and Promoting - Crypto, Blockchain and Distributed Ledger Technology

it's just not sexy enough.jpg

...it's just not sexy enough.!!

It is no secret, that for the past +5 years, I have been actively promoting: Blockchain, Distributed Ledger Technology and the Mass Adoption of Cryptocurrency.

During these last +5 years, I have followed some truly amazing people with some of the finest minds in the Industry.

I am talking about some of the most highly creative technical minds, working and developing Projects at the forefront of this Technological Revolution.

The "Best of the Best" working at the cutting edge of their field.

However, this is not the problem

Followers of my work and those that really know me, will know that I have the upmost respect for these technical guys and are constantly blown away by their creativity when it comes to development.

However, this is not the problem.

Massive void

It has been my concern for a while now that there is a massive void between those working on the development and technical side, to those Marketing and Promoting the Industry.

It is this massive void that needs to be bridged and this is where creative Marketing and Promotional Initiatives must come into play.

The perception is boring and meaningless to the outside World

Ask anyone who has actively promoted: Crypto, Blockchain and Distributed Ledger Technology for Mass Adoption and they will probably tell you that there is a perception that they are simply boring and meaningless to the outside World.

Most people you talk to more often than not loose the will to live before you even get past first base.

Sexy, exciting and more important, worthwhile.!!

Getting past first base is the biggest challenge and this is where we all come in.

It is important for each and every one of us to reverse this perception and make Crypto, Blockchain and Distributed Ledger Technology, sexy, exciting and more important, worthwhile.

No one said it was going to be easy, but if we all chip away and breakdown this perception and make them more sexy and exciting then Mass Adoption will come sooner rather than later..!!

Thanks again for reading.

It's definitely a tough sell for an "average" person trying to pitch the idea to another "average" person. I like to use Don Tapscott's TED talk from a couple of years back, because he explained blockchain at a very basic level, using ordinary examples "real people" could relate to. The trick with that is to get people to actually sit still for 15 minutes to watch the clip...

=^..^=

I agree. Blockchain, Crypto, STEEM, etc are not appealing to the masses as yet.

Rome wasn't built in a day and neither is my stake, and so I'm in some ways glad this is the case. Slowly but surely though, and hopefully the work done now will all be worthwhile.

Until most wallets are so hard to handle there will not kick in any real mass adoption. Resteemed :-)

Definitely great and relevant points which is why devlopment around user interface and experience are key as we progress across projects. Scaling and interoperability were previously the primary concerns when prices were high but it seems that a step back is needed to attend this issue. We cannot be sustainable relying solely on prices. Thisbis why the platforms developing Dapps around them are a key for the progression as they provide ways to use blockchain as a utility and no solely a speculative asset.

And it's coz of the lack of knowledge of crypto use-cases in the real world.

Agree, we have to make Crypto and Steem more sexy for the masses, but for me it's already sexy :)

To the people that understand crypto, it is sexy af! You are right tho, it is important for people who understand to explain to others. Also it looks like you do not understand steem after looking at how much voting power you have unused. You have a responsibility to the steem blockchain to use your up votes daily.

Hey, @stephenkendal.

I'm in full agreement that the way to sell the blockchain by its specs, or its technological abilities. I also don't think the best way to do it is how others have tried it, by saying, at least with STEEM, "Come and earn boatloads!" or something like that. So, the marketing that has put forth so far makes STEEM sound like a get rich quick scheme, which really isn't the case as much as it might have been in the past.

I guess where I'm going with is, I'm in agreement the chain can't be sold from the technical side, but the earn money part hasn't helped as far as retention is concerned. Generally speaking, we need to identify the need people have, and then market it to them in a way that doesn't promise the moon and the stars, but the technology, the community, the dApps, the earnings, can all deliver on.

What that is, however, I don't know off the top of my head. :)

Lots of important things aren't particularly exciting. Take the sanitation systems we have in place. Most people are content to be oblivious.
Blockchain tried to become a buzzword and it promised to revolutionize everything. But ultimately its just a type of code.
You don't see people getting overly excited about javascript or C++.
Developers and businesses need to focus on what it actually does better.
Same goes for DLT. I am excited by it, but that says more about me than people who aren't excited by it.

As for crypto, this is what we can really hype. It also needs a reputation boost, but with 1000s of stupid cryptocurrencies and many starting every week I don't see it happening soon.
