SIX: No Marriage Is Perfect.
No marriage is perfect, more so even the ones we see and think from afar. They are far from perfect, so stop beating yourself up about yours not working. It is a phase, a process and it will pass. You have to keep fighting and keep working on making it better and don't fall into the trap of comparing your marriage with another. In the world where face value is not always the real value, so many couples put up the act outside but they know themselves "inside"; in the comfort of their homes. Marriage involves a lot of hard work. Marriage has several aspects which needs to be carefully maintained if you are to enjoy it to the fullest, as a car too.
SEVEN: You Can't Get That Complete Person You Desire.
God gives you your partner in the form of raw materials so you can mould him or her into whatever or whoever you desire. This moulding process takes time and you have to be able to be patient while the process is going on. Your partner won't get there in a sudden flight. Be patient. While your partner is going through this process to be who you desire him or her to be, show love, support, encouragement and ofcourse pray along.
EIGHT: Marriage Is A Risk
If you marry right, you will be happy and if you go about it the wrong way and unhappiness sprouts, you will become a philosopher.
In this world, nothing is certain except death and taxes. Hahaha.
No one can predict what will happen after marriage. You don't know how he would react to certain situations, you don't know what she would turn into afterwards. Situations can happen. Life can happen. She might balloon in size after giving birth, he may lose his job shortly after, she might need to step up and take charge of the finances, she might travel out for job and leave you with the kids. Nothing is certain and that is why it is a risk. You have to prepare your mind for uncertainties while praying alongside.
Keep calling on God but keep rowing to the shore.
Hope for the best but expect the worst sometimes but with God on your side, you might be shaken but you won't go down.
NINE: Deal With It!. It Is Permanent, Never A Contract.
Marriage is not something you go into for a short time and try to opt out. It is permanent. It not a vow that works for certain period of time, it is a lifetime journey. Marriage requires total commitment and love with understanding can make you two last longer. Divorce should never be a thing you drool over. Always push out that thought and know there is no escaping. With this mindset, you can fully work on your relationship/marriage to make the best out of it, rather than seek an easy way out. God is not pleased with divorce.
TEN It Is An Institution With A Price To Pay
Nothing in life is without a price, more so Marriage. What you give to it is what you withdraw, more like your bank account. Be certain what you deposit into it because that is what you will receive or be given, with pressed down, shaken together and running over measure. Deposit love, care, peace, faithfulness, joy, kindness and understanding. Marriage involves a lot of effort, giving, and sacrifice. Be willing to pay the price so you can enjoy its fruits. It works with the law of sowing. What you sow is what you reap. You can't plant cassava and harvest yam, nor you plant banana and reap plantain. Plant the right seeds.
