When Media Fails!
Throughout the 2016 campaign there were five subjects of intense controversy where voters most wanted to find clarity. Pretty much the voters have been denied this wish and kept in the dark, both by the players involved and also by the media supposedly charged with the responsibility to uncover this information.
Of the five items, we've only partially seen information on one, the Wall Street speeches.
Clinton's missing 30,000 Secretary of State emails. On this we're left in bleach bit and the media simply leaves it at that.
Clinton's Wall Street speeches. Fortunately, Wikileaks released some. It still amazes me that people who believe in transparent government would today vilify Wikileaks, especially since Julian Assange's organization showed exactly how close Clinton was to Wall Street.
Clear cut proof the DNC computers were hacked and not leaked from the inside. Contrary to how the media has presented this subject, there is no proof. In fact, the media has obfuscated the matter.
Donald Trump's tax returns. He continues to refuse to release them. What mystifies me on this is why one or some of the FBI agents accused of corruption would not somehow find a way to release these tax returns given they had access to them via the Mueller Investigation.
Investigation of voter suppression. With the release of Wikileaks documents coupled with the statements of former DNC chair (temporary) Donna Brazile we know voter suppression existed among the Democrats. Clinton screwed Sanders! On the Republican side a flawed voter elimination program was in effect in 30 states controlled by the Republicans. It was called Crosscheck and it eliminated voters who had the same name but who lived in two different states. This is how Trump screwed Clinton!
Meanwhile, the press hard hits Trump on superficial and hard to prove issues but lets him slide on major issues. For example, don't you think the tax cut for billionaires was more important than anti-Russian propaganda or Stormy Daniels? Or Trump's eliminating the Consumer Protection Bureau or Meals on Wheels, denial on climate change, his handling of Puerto Rico and cuts to so many programs that provide a safety net for the poor? The list is extremely long!
Why does Trump get away with this? The media ownership, and the six and seven-digit-earning famous journalist and consultant class, are part of this oligarchy. Trump and Clinton too!
The oligarchy would have preferred Clinton as more folks would smile while being ripped off -- 95% of wealth generated in America under Obama actually went to the fat cats at the top, but few seemed to notice. Well, the money's still going to the top but with Trump, but it's more blatant. But it's hard to digest and figure out when the media has it set up that Russians and Stormy Daniels are more important.
In 2008, sickened by Bush-Cheney, the people wanted an "outsider" when Obama was elected. But Citibank appointed his cabinet and Obama went the Clinton way. The people wanted Bernie Sanders in 2016. But the voting was rigged to exclude Sanders.
Today, nobody is happy because anybody of any political or media stature (except Sanders and very few others) not only appear dishonest ... they are dishonest!!!
