Memes During Downtime

in #memes6 years ago

By this time, I'm sure many have read about what caused the downtime last night. More information can be found on the @steemitblog's latest post about Steem Blockchain Patch. Long story short, the user @nijeah (@haejin backwards) attempted a power down that would have resulted in negative vests, and it bugged the system out. Fortunately, STINC and the Witnesses tackled it, in my opinion, in a timely fashion.

Was it intentional and malicious? I doubt it.

What impressed me the most was, there was not widespread panic amongst Steemians. Sure, there were some who were concerned. For the most part, people just sat back and relaxed. Some even joked about the reasons why the blockchain came to a halt.

So, I decided that I will share some memes inspired by the conversations I had read over various Discord channels last night while the troubleshooting took place.

1. Funds Are Safe!

Tweet from STINC and frame from a Bizonacci video

This one is just too appropriate. Ever since Bizonacci made their video about funds are safe, it's become the crypto meme whenever a potential scare takes place.

2. @Ned Exit Scamming

Literally a freeze frame of @ned's head from a recent video put over Carlos Matos from Bitconnect's body.

I mean, why else is @ned powering down? It's a joke obviously. I actually did some search around the web and it appeared there was no false rumors about how the blockchain is being shut down and STINC running away with the tokens.

Again, props to the prompt response and diligence of the Witnesses for containing the issue.

3. Jerry's Revenge

Conversations found in PAL Discord. @jerrybanfield's face cropped on to Command and Conquer: Yuri's Revenge box art.

Poor Jerry. His recent posts have earned him dissing from community members. The timing of the events obviously had an impact on the conversations that took place. Maybe he got a chuckle out of Steemians thinking he did something, or not...

Regardless, it is highly probable that he was among the Witnesses to update their services ASAP.

4. You Know Everything is Back Online When...

@GINAbot notification resumed. Operations were halted until blockchain started moving again.

Transactions started coming in from various promotional services when the fiasco ended. If you were at work like I was throughout the whole event, this was the sure fire way to know that the Steem Blockchain lives and that @hugo4u still remembers you.

It's all good Hugo, you keep doing you!

5. Business as Usual

Spammers gonna spam and @steemflagrewards will be there to catch them.

Errors gonna error...why does it do that anyways?

When everything came back on, the first posts I noticed were on Trending. One of them belonged to @johnstone and the other one belonged to @jarvie; both are whom I follow. Pretty nifty when you feel "hey, I know them!".

Since we are on the subject, make sure you check out @SteemPeak (not SteemSpeak) and the Russian Discord: https://discord.gg/hP2fW9q

It's cool to see projects building up the community.

As for me, I had some Steem-related fun last night even when it was down. I hope you didn't stress too much!

I have never been worried when Steemit's home page has a problem and of course, while waiting for me to do something else. LOL
Thank @enforcer48 for trusting my x2.5 upvote service!

I have to admit. It was a rather productive night at work without checking on Steemit every now and then.

Khakha. Yes! If so, let this happen several times a month. :)

Wow never seen the funds are safe video lol, funny post made me chuckle a few times :D

It's some of the best over-the-top crypto videos out there.

HAHA great post, I hope everyone catches your jokes ;)

Haha thanks!

Always good to know the reason for the collapse... But yeah, people were kinda just hanging out on Discord, so not too bad.

Goes to show how chill this community is.

So that explain everithing! I though there was something wrong with my net hahaha.. thanks for the information.

Yeah, everything went down. Funds are safe!

I aint worried about the funds because i dont have much hahaha
