The Maniacal Military Monolith
Top military, diplomatic, and political leaders have exposed, warned of, and condemned the runaway, unaudited military budgets of the U.S. for decades. "America’s War Machine: Vested Interests, Endless Conflicts" is just one of the books that comes to the desperate conclusion: that only organized citizens can stop the U.S. spending spree. The military budget of a trillion dollars annually is draining the public budgets for rebuilding America’s public infrastructure and services. The Pentagon budget alone of about $700 billion is over fifty percent of the entire federal operational budget for other departments and agencies. “Waste, Fraud, and Abuse” prevail in the Pentagon’s contracts with the giant defense industry. The war machine of Lockheed Martin, General Dynamics, Boeing, Raytheon, and other big corporations pushes a new arms race demanding $1.2 trillion over the next 30 years to upgrade existing nuclear weapons. The Pentagon has been in violation a U.S. Congressional directive since 1992 in promising an audit that never comes. Within this abeyance of responsibility and oversight taxpayers have lost trillions of dollars.
The Department of Defense remains an archaic "amalgam of fiefdoms without centralized mechanisms to allocate resources", track expenditures and measure results. Meanwhile money is desperately needed in the U.S. and around the world for communities, jobs, repair/upgrade of public transit, roads, bridges, schools, drinking water/sewage systems, and replacements for other crumbling infrastructure and facilities.
Leaving you with two other related thoughts: A) There has never, ever been true security in the world. It is an illusion of the U.S. created out of fear and manipulation. B) In democracy, the government is only as good and knowledgeable as the people, at best. An incredibly scary thought!

No wonder why families who funded world wars, moved from UK to US as the power set down in europe and rised from US coast!

They've been exposed but it's not stopping the efforts to create more wars and military spending, at the time we'd thought exposure would at least bring back morality within the administration, nope! they're all corrupt.
This is a very complex problem for a superpower country. Transparency is very important for a country, let alone a country like the usa
They'll hardly stop growing military, because it is a process of investments. For the government war it's just a business, nothing personal, you know... US tried it during Second World war and succeeded. Why not again?
