How much did the military spend yesterday? $1.6 billion

Yesterday the military awarded a large number of mostly smaller contracts (< $50 million). In fact, the total number of contracts topped out at 34. The big winner was General Dynamics Electric Boat Corporation with about a third of yesterday's awards: $480 million. This large amount was a modification on an earlier contract for ballistic missile submarines.
