Practical experience is the best teacher. One of the best ways to learn anything is by getting up and doing it. People can learn the art of money management by earning their own money through creative thinking.

Do you crave that new smartphone, designer purse, basketball shoes, etc?

This might even have another side effect. Once you do some of this work and see what it takes to make some money, you might find that what you craved and wanted to buy with the money isn't that important anymore.

If you too are wondering how to earn money quickly, then this article is for you. I'll tell you some creative and fun ways of earning money. You just need to be a little more creative and practical towards your approach to making money.

(1). You can offer to scan people's photographs at a local Senior center

Many seniors do not know how to scan their photographs so they can put it up on Social media or send via email to their friends and family.

You can make good money if they offer to do this for them. You just need to possess the basic knowledge of scanning along with a laptop.

Hint your local library has the equipment you need. If you have a smartphone you can use that as well.

Swing by your local senior center speak with the staff and set up a Scan your photo album day. $10-$20 per album.

Make it an event! Showing them how to do their other ones on their own.

Use a scanner printer with a laptop if you have one. If not get large pieces of white construction paper and black ones to put the photos on top. Then use your smartphone. Set up a free google email and send the pictures to that email for each person.

So if you have 25 seniors that participate you just earned $250 - $500 dollars!

Have the seniors participate and prep their photos on a table so you just pass by and take digital pictures of them. With time to load to a Gmail account that you write down and give each person so they have access to their photos, it might take 4 hours.

That's over $60+ dollars an hour!

Offer a slide show version for a moving show effect. $5 - $10 dollars upsell. Google photos will do it all for you and even add music. You select the photos.

If you get 10 people to do the upsell you just made an extra $50 - $100!

$300 to $600 dollars in less than a day!

Upsell tip: if the center has an overhead smart tv bring a flash drive and run some of the animated slide shows of the albums.

Even if you cut your prices in half you still can easily make $150 - $300!

How many Senior centers do you have in your town or surrounding towns?

(2). You can earn money if you have craigslist or other online market place

Sell your CRAP!

Look around your house. I am sure you will find lots of stuff just collecting dust. Even old jeans! Are they vintage? Once you run out of stuff to sell you can look in the free section grab the free stuff clean it up, paint it, etc and sell it!

Facebook even has a local marketplace now!

Is spring, fall cleaning coming up in your neighborhood?

Go to the wealthier neighborhoods when this is going on and you would be surprised at the great stuff people rather put on the curb than try to sell.

(3).Live in a town or city that has a recycling program on cans and bottles? Are you an Artist?

You can recycle the materials and trash by sending them to the nearby recyclers who will pay you for the trash. This way you are also contributing towards the well-being of the environment. So just save the recyclables at home and take them to the nearest recycling plant.

Turn in all those cans and bottles that might be pilling up at home. Or better yet turn them into objects of art and sell them!

See a broken washer or drying machine on the curb for garbage pick up? Why not grab parts of it and turn it into art or furniture and then sell it!

The drum of the dryer can make a cool coffee table. Paint it a bright color put a piece of glass or wood on top. Get creative.

When I was in college I cut up an old steel clawfoot bathtub and made a nice sofa out of it. Like the one in Breakfast at Tiffany's.

(4). You can hold a garage/yard sale

Have a weekend free? Almost everyone generally has lots of items which are of no use or just collecting dust. Every year you might be doing school projects and many items are left unused. You can utilize the garage space or yard to organize a sale of the unused items and toys from previous years.

Hint grab the free stuff on craigslist and clean it up then sell it all at your garage/ yard sale!

(5). Making and selling crafts

If you are creative enough, you can also consider making and selling craft items in your area by finding local fairs. Crafts such as baskets, jewelry, etc, can fetch a good amount of money. You can even sell them online.

(6).Writing articles for local magazines or newspapers

You can also choose to write for local magazines or newspapers even do it online to earn money. There are many periodicals that need content. Both in print and digital form. You can even look on Google for writing gigs or sites like upwork and Fiverr.

If you are an avid writer then you can choose to do this job.

(7).Do chores for your neighbors

There are chores like mowing lawns, walking dogs, etc. which many elderly people might find difficult to perform. If your parents are comfortable with you doing these chores, you can take up them.

Offer to do the first one for free and then sell them on packages. ie: Cut the lawn twice a month prebuy 3-month service for $20 -$40 a month. Apartment buildings are full of pet owners that would love to have a dog walker.

(8).Providing pet care services

If your neighbors need it, you can choose to take care of their pets while they are out for work. Pets need washing, walking and different types of training. If you are good at it then go for it.

Similar to the chores above but with more upsell opportunities.

(9). You can become a tutor or hold a workshop

If you are good in studies, you can choose to tutor students in your neighborhood. You can also go to your local civic center and host a workshop and charge a small fee per person. Promote it and get the word out about it.

$5-$20 a person is fair. 10 people show up and you just made $50 - $200 for an hour workshop!

Again workshops can be on any subject. Have fun with it.

(10).Be an assistant or even a virtual assistant

If you have a car why not sign up for Uber Easts and deliver food. Great option if your car is older than they allow to be an Uber driver. Note: This type of work will not be around in the next few years. Can you guess why?

How about going to a local office building and offering to do a spa day or exotic coffee day during lunch?

If you are good at photography or dancing, you can choose to be a helper at the dance classes or to a photographer. Also, if you love gardening, you can help others in cutting the grass or planting flowers and other such activities. This is an easy way to earn money while pursuing your hobbies.

Again VAs are in high demand on upwork and Fiverr. So if you are good with details, MS Office, setting schedules or appointments, speaking on the phone, etc. You can make a nice side hustle for extra cash.

The above-mentioned ways are just a small list of the thousands of ways people can earn money along with selling stuff around the house you no longer use. You can come up with your own ideas just by using your creativity.

Great post!
I love the idea of scanning photos for elderly citizens. You could be saving their pictures as well as not all have withstood the test of time. I've taken pictures of family bibles (essential for genealogy) which were almost impossible to read, but with basic photo editing skills, I was able to make it much easier.

I have successfully used Fiverr in the past, but it's not really a "fast cash" situation - even if you manage to get a quick order, there is a two-week lag between the time the order is complete until the funds are released to you.

I would also argue that the crafting thing has a similar lag period - while you work out what you're doing, perfect it, market it and manage to sell it! However, if you're good at it, it could become a good long-term income source.

My husband salvages computer parts at the dump. He then throws them together into new machines. Legally, he's not allowed to sell them, but that might be different at different dumps. He could also donate them to charities, which would then be a tax write-off if one wants to go that direction - but again, not a fast cash thing.

However, if you're any good at fixing computers, there are always people needing that service.

I knew of someone who bought a nice house with pet-sitting and house-sitting money... so, that's a lucrative market - there are even websites designed to help match you up with work (at least for the pet-sitting area.)

Final point (then I'll shut up, I promise! What can I say, I'm a writer!)
I also knew someone who made a decent living as an "errands girl" - she would be a bit of a gopher for whatever people needed, whether it was a ride to work or an emergency bag of dog food. If you know anyone where you live, this could easily help bring in the needed cash and potentially become your new career!
