Is it Realistic for a Minnow to be a Whale Someday ?

Of course if you come into a windfall of money like a trust fund or inheritance. But excluding this, it probably will not happen.

I believe there may be. Or if it has not happened already I think over time we might see a Minnow get there through visibility and getting their r name out there with lots of Comments and Blog posts.

But in all honesty to start off with 10 SP or so and think you are going to turn it to 50K+ SP through hard work on Steemit is really somewhat delusional. It would be more the exception than the rule...for sure.

P.S. Please do not take this Post as a negative to all the Minnows and Dolphins out there. I am one myself ,and I have NOT completely ruled it out by any means. We can work hard to make it less the exception :)
Pretty tough robertandrew. ..unless and until you dont have investment on steem and secondaly if you do not have any solid whales backing who keep pushing your blog with heavt upvotes..

I have thought the same thing. I have to admit, I am a little jealous of some of the early adopters on here that get consistent upvotes from big whales; even when they are posting illegible rubbish!

I think that if a minnow or dolphin really wanted to graduate to whale, it would require some outside investing. I would say treat it like any other long term investment product by buying a certain amount of steem each pay period.
Perhaps decide on a comfortable percentage of your paycheck every two weeks or whatever and power it up. Especially now that the price is so low. It could happen with consistent investments over a period of time.
I would do it myself, but I made a commitment 2 years ago to put a certain amount of money into cryptos and work with only that for a few years. So that's what I've done! Unfortunately I didn't do so hot with a bunch of crap coins that I ended up stuck with, but even with that I've multiplied my money many times over.
I agree with that method, thats what im doing. I'm also considering selling some of my other cryptos to buy steem.
Yeah, I have been trading in most of my crappier altcoins for steem. I am reaching for 10k SP at the moment.

Doubtful. It would be a massive surprise to see somebody make it that far from just grafting alone. With that said whales are a rare breed so what people should be aiming for is dolphin. As we get more users on to the blockchain and steem prices rise, dolphin status will be huge. There are still only a very small number but it is very achievable to get there with hard work.

Yeah I think 500SP should be initial goal. Then 5K SP the next goal. Maybe the final goal and just Hold and do curating and posting
Thats exactly how to do it. There is a redfish power up league with prizes to help accounts get to 500sp which has been very successful so far. The same people are now starting a minnow power up league to follow people from 500 to 5000sp so hopefully that helps people to get there. I have joined from the first week anyway as i would like to get to dolphin within the next year.
I think to graduate to the whale level is going to take focus, dedication and a lot of time for a minnow. It will also require continuous outside investment. I don't think it will work if they are depending solely on steemit.

why not???!!! i think it can be possible...i know it is far too ambitious! but if you have what it takes all the capabilities and of course the right funds... it can be.. if going there has no time bound, we can all get there...
