I think is a great way for everyone to discover new music!

So without further ado, my 5 picks for this week:

1. John Mayer - Say

This just got uploaded on John Mayer's YouTube channel last Friday, even though this is an old song from the movie "The Bucket List". Guess this was like a Flashback Friday but it gave me a chance to revisit the song. This has been one of my favourites from John Mayer just for it's heart touching lyrics.

Even if your hands are shaking
And your faith is broken
Even as the eyes are closin'
Do it with a heart wide open

So awesome! A few teardrops might have rolled down my eyes while listening to this. Such a mood lifting motivational song.

2. Ronald Reggae - Jamaican Rhapsody

I just bumped into this while browsing this week and it made my day! 😂I must admit I love stupid (but witty) stuff like this. 😁The lyrics are well placed, a great job has been done bringing in the regge vibe to the song, and overall it is just fun.
Smoke some and watch this?

3. OOPAR OOPAR RENN DE | The Bro Anthem | Happii-Fi

Speaking of stupid (but witty) stuff, this is another Ganja based song. Though they never explicitply mention it in the song. Oopar in Hindi means Up which can also be referred to as High. See what they did there? ha ha...
There is a neat little story in the YouTube description on how they made this stop motion video. Some great graphics going on here. Have to give it to this team for a well made product 👏🏽

4. Husna - Hitesh Sonik feat Piyush Mishra

I love this composition and the lyrics. How wonderfully the painful divide between two nations is portrayed!

The song is about a person who has lived and seen the times of India-Pakistan being one nation. Times, when people shared a beautiful equation of warmth and oneness, in spite of its religious diversity. He is telling Husna ( in this context, can mean either the "kind Allah" or his mate across the border) about the longing and the painful wait he is going through, to feel what it is to be on the other side. He asks (with disheartened sarcasm) if the Partition has changed the course of sunrise and the fall of the leaves in autumn on the other side...as it use to be the same before. He misses the ballads of heer-ranjha's everlasting love, those melodies still haunt him. And the wise words of Bulleh Shah (The Sufi Poet-Saint) still guide him. He asks whether all the faiths (Muslim, Hindu and Sikh) still celebrate each other's festivals like Eid, Diwali, Holi and Lohri as their own, with the same warmth and enthusiasm...as it was before the Great Divide. Those were the times of no boundaries, no religious divide and no hatred....

Btw, love the bass in this song!

5. Tauba - Papon, Benny Dayal

This is a wonderful mix of African rhythms, funk and Bollywood! The arrangement is very interesting and intelligent. When the song starts, you won't expect that rhythm to drop in. But once it beings, you will start bobbing your head immediatly!
Benny Dayal steals the show with his singing!
Love that accordion solo. ✨
