Monday Red - Palm Beach Flowers

in #mondayred6 years ago

While visiting the Philip Hulitar Sculpture Garden last week, I found some interesting flowers in bloom that fit @kalemandra’s Monday Red Color Challenge nicely. I believe all are varieties of bromeliads. I didn’t know much about the plants before taking these shots, but found the variety very interesting. You may not be surprised to learn that pineapple plants are a variety of this species.

The first picture is a bromeliad called Aechmea Fasciata, which is also called the “Urn Flower”. It is apparently one of the easiest to grow.

This one I believe is an unopened bloom of the neoregelia variety.

And the final one was drastically different than the first two. It had a red stalk coming off the main plant with beautiful small blooms along the stalk. The plant has to be mature before it shoots out this flowering stalk.

Such interesting plants! Pretty amazing colors, too.

Congratz, your post has been resteemed and, who knows, will maybe appear in the next edition of the #dailyspotlights (Click on my face if you want to know more about me...)
Check the rules of the Daily Spotlights if you want to nominate someone!

These are certainly a step away from the regular fare, but, the colors are varied, right there on the stem. Very interesting!

Flowers aren’t my normal subjects, but I was fascinated by the variety in this garden.
