Be Frugal but don't be cheap

in #money5 years ago

Hey Jessvestors

I appreciate you investing your time into my posts and reading my ramblings each day, week or month whenever you do find my content.

I just want to say that you are magnificent, you are the shit! Since all you internet people have such fragile egos, I thought I'd share something motivational since it resonates so well with audiences on social media.

As we think we actually accomplish something by just feeling motivated but not actually doing anything.

Money is a tool you don't have to act like one too

I deal with all sorts of people each day, they all have their own views of the world and how they value money. We've built this weird system where we hand over money one another in his massive game of musical chairs and some of us end up with money while others don't.

Its the name of the game, games will always have winners and losers and we all play it differently. Some play to win, some play for fun, some play just to not lose.

Those who are scared to lose are often those who love the status quo, they just want to truck along in their lane hoping nothing changes and get blindsided when they do. More often than not these people will be the cheapest people you'll ever meet. The ones that are pennywise but pound foolish.

I'm not saying spend money for no reason but you need to also evaluate what you spend and how you spend it, think of the cost-benefit ratio and how you will benefit from the investment, not how much you can save.

Cheap customers look like this:

  • Being cheap is about spending less
  • Those who are cheap are often afraid to spend money
  • Cheapness uses price as a bottom line
  • Cheap people are driven by saving money regardless of the cost. They are willing to sacrifice quality, value and time in order to cash in on some short-term savings

Frugal customers look like this:

  • Being frugal is about prioritising your spending so that you can have more of the things you really care about
  • Frugality is about assessing the bigger picture and having the patience to cash in on the simple saving strategies
  • Frugality uses value as a bottom line
  • Frugal people are driven by maximising total value, including the value of their time

Have your say

Are you cheap or are you frugal?

Holla at me in the comments! All my commenters I will now refer to as Jessie. Jessie is a good friend of mine, but Jessies got a girl, and I want to make her mine.

So have at it my Jessies! If you don't have something to comment, simply comment "I am a Jessie."

Wise saying. The difference is in the brain/mind.

Indeed! It’s all about how you perceive money it’s only a tool and tools can be used in whichever way, some use it badly some use it well!

You are right man. The way some people spend money extravagant, you will he surprised. Kind of they feel they have more than enough so why should they care about their spending ratio

Well if you do have enough means it allows you to take risks! The rich as much as people hate them don’t get rich by sitting on their money it’s because they spend and reinvest that they stay rich! Rich people that just spend don’t stay rich for long

"Price is what you pay, but value is what you get."

Indeed and sometimes I've found that letting the money part slide and banking on favours has gotten me pretty far. Its all about bartering and the medium can be anything we agree on

Spend wisely!! I like to think of myself as a bargain hunter!!
