Building a Video Resume

As we know, video is a very powerful tool. And the advent of video over the internet has changed things forever. No longer do you need an entire crew to make an impact with a video. So, as people are beginning to understand the impact that having a video channel can bring to their business or service, another facet of video has emerged. And that would be the Video Resume.

Video resume's are not just for actors, models, and filmmakers today.

Now, you do not have to be in the video industry to have a video resume. Of course if you deal in the the creative field of any sort, a video resume can help you show a potential client or employer what a traditional paper resume does not. If for instance you are a prop maker, then a video showing your props with your voice over telling the viewer what they are looking at is very helpful.

This long shutter speed shot is an example of how specific you can get when creating a video resume. Explaining long shutter speeds might confuse someone with all the technical jargon. And sending them a link to a gallery might be blown off. But, clicking a video that takes them through a series of your photos while you explain what you are doing is going to captivate your audience much better than traditional methods.

To make a video resume you need good clean audio. I record my voice overs in a closet as the clothes hanging in there act as a sound buffer. And you get goo clean audio with little or no hiss. Also, you will want a music bed that is congruent with what you are featuring on your video resume. And you will want to keep your video resume right at 1 minute.
