Mercedes Emissions: Potential Investment?

Today, I would like to have a look at the recent Mercedes emissions news, and compare it with the 2015 Volkswagen emissions scandal.
Starting with VW, in Sep 2015, the emissions scandal led to a significant drop in stock price (from 160 euro to 100 euro). After the scandal was over, the price recovered up to 140 euro in a few months. That is a 40% gain in several months, sounds nice.
Generally, it might be a good strategy to invest in large companies that undergo temporary scandals, as if the company is large enough, the stock price is likely to recover after the scandal.
A similar opportunity might arise soon with Daimler, because Mercedes has to recall nearly 800000 cars all over Europe. If price reacts violently, and if RSI moves into deeply oversold area, Dailmer might be a good temporary buy.
