Do you keep an account of your expenses?
Especially, the trivial and not so trivial daily spending and book keeping.

If you have not, then it is high time you must keep an account of how much you actually spend per day so that it will be easy for you to be in control of your financial situation and not have to scratch your head when an emergency arises.

Life is an unsure journey and so we can never be sure of what is to happen the next moment, even. Money is needed to deal with other people and it always need not be for emergencies.
If we pay our dues and keep money aside for the bills, we never need worry about that part and for that we need to have a disciplined and planned manner of minding our expenses and finance in general.

How many times have you felt lost when it came to spending money?

If it is more than normal, then it is indeed time to start writing down a daily report, stating how you managed the day. This will be of help in many ways. It will not only remind you later about how much you spent but also record that you had been to such and such a place or event.
