Monomad Abstract: Dying Leaf

in #monomad5 years ago

The turn to colder fall weather, the death of the garden plants, the chill in the air--all make me turn to monochrome photography so the images seem to fit the mood better. But even as things die and prepare for winter, they can give a unique beauty.

Most people think of leaves turning color here--but there is more to autumn than colored leaves. Denmark doesn't have the colorful shows I grew up with in the US. We rarely get reds. It's mostly just yellows, oranges, and browns. So I'm used to looking beyond colored foliage now for beauty.

This photo was taken with my Sony Hx400V in its black and white mode. I did tweak the levels slightly and crop for a better visual.

The object is a dying leaf from our pumpkin vines. We've had several nights of hard frost and had to cut off and pull all the pumpkins before the frost rots them.

This almost looks like the view from a World War II bomber as it flies over Germany or London, looking for it's target.

Great pic!
