Esta fotografía fue tomada durante un paseo que realizara en compañía de Fabiola, mi pareja, durante los carnavales del año 2017, al cercano estado Portuguesa, el cual se encuentra ubicado en los llanos occidentales venezolanos, y que motivado a sus grandes extensiones de siembra donde destacan el arroz, sorgo, caña de azúcar, café, entre otros rubros agrícolas, es conocido como "El Granero de Venezuela". Su nombre se debe al río Portuguesa que cruza prácticamente la entidad, y que de acuerdo a una leyenda local, una joven oriunda de Portugal habría fallecido ahogada en sus aguas, cuando acompañaba a los conquistadores europeos que fundarían la ciudad que hoy en día se conoce como Guanare, capital del estado y asiento del Santuario Nacional Nuestra Señora de Coromoto, patrona de Venezuela.

Durante nuestra travesía a Guanare, nos encontramos con un gran sembradío de girasoles a orillas de la Autopista "José Antonio Páez" a pocos kilómetros de la ciudad de Araure, donde decidimos hacer un alto en el camino con el fin de tomar algunas fotos, muchas de las cuales he compartido anteriormente en mis redes sociales, incluyendo esta plataforma digital. El girasol es una planta herbácea que se caracteriza por la propiedad conocida como heliotropismo, que consiste en capacidad de orientarse en dirección al sol con la finalidad de aprovechar mejor su luz. De esta planta se extrae aceite comestible rico en grasas poliinsaturadas, además de aprovecharse sus semillas, las cuales se consumen con sal tras ser expuestas a un ligero tostado.

La imagen original, y la cual presento al final de la presente publicación, fue realizada a color al igual que el resto de las que tomamos aquel día, sin embargo, haciendo uso de la aplicación PicsArt, fue intervenida con el objetivo de llevarla al fascinante mundo de la fotografía en blanco y negro, y poder compartirla con todos ustedes.

This photograph was taken during a walk that I carried out in the company of Fabiola, my partner, during the carnivals of the year 2017, to the nearby state Portuguesa, which is located in the Venezuelan western plains, and that motivated to its large extensions of planting where rice, sorghum, sugar cane, coffee, among other agricultural items stand out, is known as "El Granero de Venezuela". Its name is due to the Portuguesa river that practically crosses the entity, and according to a local legend, a young woman from Portugal would have died drowned in its waters, when she accompanied the European conquerors who would found the city that today day is known as Guanare, capital of the state and seat of the National Shrine of Our Lady of Coromoto, patron saint of Venezuela.

During our trip to Guanare, we found a large sunflowers plantation on the "José Antonio Páez" highway a few kilometers from the city of Araure, where we decided to stop along the way in order to take some photos, many of which I have previously shared on my social networks, including this digital platform. The sunflower is a herbaceous plant that is characterized by the property known as heliotropism, which consists of the ability to orient towards the sun in order to make better use of its light. From this plant, edible oil rich in polyunsaturated fats is extracted, in addition to taking advantage of its seeds, which are consumed with salt after being exposed to a light toast.

The original image, and which I present at the end of this publication, was made in color like the rest of the ones we took that day, however, making use of the application PicsArt, was intervened with the objective to take her to the fascinating world of black and white photography, and share it with all of you.
