The beautiful flowers that we call daffodils are the cutest sign of Spring. Looking at the cheerful flower, it is hard to believe that their story is actually a sad one.

The Latin name of daffodils is Narcissus. According to a Greek myth, Narcissus was a handsome guy gifted by the gods with an amazing beauty. How lucky, right?
Well... there was a catch. I mean, nobody gives anything for free. 🙂
The infatuated gods put a condition: Narcissus was not supposed to see a reflection of himself.
And here is where one of the biggest humanity's flaws (or maybe quality...) kicked in: curiosity.
Narcissus found a shimmering lake and gazed at himself in its waters. And he was so pleased with what he saw that he felt in love with...himself. Better than the Lannisters, I would say. 😏

The merciless gods turned poor Narcissus into the beautiful daffodil. This was the punishment for his vanity.

It makes me wonder... in what flower would gods turn me into if I was in Narcissus' place? Of course, they would have to give me that great beauty before. 😂
