Total Lunar Eclipse

On January 20, 2019 the moon passed through the shadow of Earth causing a Total Lunar Eclipse. This could be viewed throughout most of North America, South America, the eastern Pacific Ocean, the western Atlantic Ocean, Europe, and western Africa. I went out with my camera that night and took some moon shots.

The photo above was the only shot that came out fairly clear. This was taken at around 10:00pm during the early phase of the Lunar Eclipse. You can see the shadow beginning to work it's way across the face of the moon.

The next few shots are much more blurry. I took these later in the night around 2:30am:

After waking up in the middle of the night, I decided to go outside to check out the status of the Eclipse. The moon was in a deep glowing red color. I couldn't seem to focus and hold my camera steady (shot with a 200-500m Nikkor lens without a pod). The photo above makes the moon look similar to the planet Mars.

Below is a highly edited photo, which allows you to see some of the stars surrounding the eclipsed moon. The moon itself was showing some funky colors.

Due to my shaky hands, the photo below has a blur trail leading from the moon. I actually think it came out pretty cool looking, as if the moon turned into a shooting star. What do you think?
