تعرف تجارة العملات أو تداول العملات الأجنبية باسم الفوركس، وهو عبارة عن سوق عالمية لا مركزية يتم فيها تداول وتبادل العملات في مختلف أنحاء العالم وفقاً لأسعار صرف العملات، ويعدّ سوق الفوركس من أكبر وأكثر الأسواق سيولة حيث يتجاوز معدل حجم تبادل العملات اليومي فيه 5 ترليون دولار، وهو معدل كبير جداً؛ حيث إنّ جميع الأسهم العالمية مجتمعة لا تقترب من حجم التداول هذا، ويسهّل سوق الفوركس عملية بيع وشراء العملات في مختلف أنحاء العالم، وتكمن آلية العمل في تحقيق الربح عن طريق بيع العملة في حال ارتفاع سعرها، وشراء العملات المنخفضة، والجدير بالذكر أنّه توجد درجة عالية من المخاطر الناتجة عن صفقات التبادل والتي قد تؤدّي إلى حدوث خسائر كبيرة لتُجّار العملة.

وتحتلّ العملة أهمية كبيرة في حياة الأفراد في مختلف أنحاء العالم؛ حيث يحتاج الفرد لتبادلها والتحويل من عملة إلى أخرى من أجل تسيير الأعمال التجارية المختلفة، وعلى سبيل المثال، إذا أراد سائح فرنسي أن يشتري سلعة ما من مصر، أو أن يدفع لرؤية الأهرامات في مصر، فلن تُقبَل العملة الفرنسية هناك، إذ يجب عليه تحويل اليورو إلى الجنيه المصري، وهي العملة المقبولة في مصر، وبالتالي فإنه سوف يتبادل العملة وفقاً لسعر الجنيه المصري في ذلك الوقت، ويمكن قياس ذلك على مختلف المواقف والأعمال التجارية المختلفة، وعلى هذا النحو يظهر السبب الرئيسي في كون سوق تبادل العملات من أكبر الأسواق المالية وأكثرها سيولة في العالم، فحاجة الأفراد إلى تبادل العملات هو ما يجعله على قدر من الأهمية.

وإنّ من أهم الأمور التي تميّز تبادل العملات هو أنه لا يوجد سوق مركزي لعملية تبادل النقد؛ حيث يتم تداول العملات بطريقة إلكترونية عبر الإنترنت، فتحدث مختلف المعاملات بين تجار العملة في جميع أنحاء العالم باستخدام شبكات الحاسوب، ويكون السوق مفتوح طوال اليوم أي 24 ساعة، ويتم تبادل العملات وتداولها في كل منطقة وفقاً للتوقيت الزمني فيها، فمثلاً عند انتهاء يوم التداول في الولايات المتحدة، يبدأ سوق التداول في طوكيو من جديد وهكذا، أما أسعار العملات فهي في تغيُّر مستمر.

تاريخ تجارة العملات

في عام 1876م بدأت فكرة تثبيت العملات العالمية من خلال ربطها بسعر الذهب، وبدأ تطبيق ما يُعرَف بمعيار الذهب، وكان قائماً في أساسه على تدعيم جميع العملات الورقية بالذهب الصُّلب، وقد كانت الفكرة جيدة من الناحية النظرية؛ إلّا أنّها أسفرت عن ركود وكساد اقتصادي من الناحية العملية؛ ممّا أدى إلى التوجه نحو إسقاط هذا المبدأ، وبالرغم من انخفاض سعر الذهب إلّا أنّه تمّ وبالفعل إلغاء هذه الفكرة في بداية الحرب العالمية الثانية؛ حيثُ لم تكن تمتلك الدول الأوروبية الذهب الكافي لتدعيم العملات الورقية التي كانت تطبعها بكميات كبيرة من أجل التمويلات العسكرية الكبيرة.

وفي عام 1944م، صدر قرار قرار بوضع أسعار صرف ثابتة للعملات الأجنبية، وأنّ الدولار الأمريكي هو العملة الوحيدة التي سوف يتم تدعيمها بالذهب، وعُرِفَ هذا النظام باسم بريتون وودز (بالإنجليزية: Bretton Woods)، وفي عام 1971م أعلنت الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية أنها لن تدعم عملتها بالذهب، وبالتالي توقفت عن تبادل الذهب مقابل الدولار الأمريكي، وقررت عدم ربطه بسعر الذهب وانتهى بذلك نظام بريتون وودز، وفي عام 1976م ظهر سوق الصرف الأجنبي أو سوق تجارة العملات الأجنبية، والذي نتج عن القبول العالمي لأسعار صرف العملات الأجنبية، أمّا التداول باستعمال الإنترنت فلم يبدأ إلّا مع حلول منتصف التسعينيات.

جهات تداول العملات

تعمل بتجارة العملات جهات متعددة، منها:
البنوك: تتداول البنوك العملات كل يوم وبكميات كبيرة، فبعض البنوك يمكن أن تتداول مليارات الدولارات يومياً، ويتم في بعض الاحيان تداول العملات نيابة عن العملاء، كما يتداول بعض التجار العملات لحساب البنك الخاص.
الأفراد: يشارك الأفراد في سوق صرف العملات الأجنبية من خلال تبادل الأموال أثناء السفر إلى بلد آخر لأي هدف كان؛ سواء أكان ذلك في المطار أو في البنك.
الشركات: تستخدِم الشركات المختلفة سوق الصرف الأجبني لتداول العملات والتعامل مع الشركات الأخرى في الدول الأخرى المختلفة، ويكون ذلك من أجل بيع أو شراء سلع، أو تقديم خدمات معينة للدول الأخرىن، والجدير بالذكر أنّ جزءاً هاماً من نشاط سوق الصرف الأجنبي يكون مصدره الشركات التي تتبادل العملات للتعامل مع وجهات مختلفة في البلدان الأخرى.
المستثمرون: تحتاج شركات الاستثمار التي تُعنى بإدارة المحافظ المالية لعملائها إلى استخدام سوق الصرف الأجنبي لتسهيل المعاملات الخاصة بهم والمتعلقة بالأوراق المالية الأجنبية.
الحكومات والبنوك المركزية: للبنك المركزي في بلد معين دورٌ هامٌ في سوق الصرف الأجنبي؛ حيثُ يمكن أن يكون السبب في زيادة أو نقصان قيمة العملة في نفس البلد؛ وذلك من خلال محاولة السيطرة على أسعار الفائدة، أما لتحقيق الاستقرار في السوق فيمكن لتلك الدول أن تستخدم الاحتياطات التي تملكها من العملات الأجنبية.

The main thing that distinguishes currency exchange is that there is no central market for the exchange of cash; where currencies are traded electronically over the Internet, the various transactions between currency traders around the world using computer networks, and the market is open all day, 24 hours, The exchange and trading of currencies in each region according to the time in which, for example, at the end of the trading day in the United States, the market begins trading in Tokyo again and so, while currency prices are constantly changing.

History of currency trading

In 1876, the idea of ​​stabilizing the world's currencies began by linking them to the price of gold. The so-called gold standard was introduced. It was based on the consolidation of all paper currencies with solid gold. The idea was theoretically good; however, it resulted in stagnation and economic depression. The process, which led to the overthrow of this principle, and despite the decline in the price of gold, but was in fact eliminated this idea at the beginning of the Second World War; where the European countries did not have enough gold to strengthen the paper currency, which was printed in large quantities for military funding .

In 1944, a decision was made to set fixed exchange rates and the US dollar was the only currency to be supported by gold. The system was known as Bretton Woods. In 1971, the United States announced that it would not support its currency And thus stopped the exchange of gold against the US dollar, and decided not to link it to the price of gold and ended the Bretton Woods system, and in 1976 the foreign exchange market or foreign exchange market, which resulted from the global acceptance of foreign exchange rates, Starts only m The mid-nineties solutions.

Currency trading bodies

Currency trading works in several ways, including:
Banks: Banks trade currencies every day in large quantities. Some banks can trade billions of dollars a day, and sometimes currencies are traded on behalf of customers. Some traders also trade currencies for the private bank.
Individuals: Individuals participate in the foreign exchange market by exchanging money while traveling to another country for any purpose, whether at the airport or at the bank.
Companies: Different companies use the foreign exchange market to trade currencies and deal with other companies in different countries, in order to sell or buy goods or provide certain services to other countries. It is worth mentioning that an important part of the activity of the foreign exchange market comes from companies that exchange Currencies to deal with different destinations in other countries.
Investors: Portfolio investment companies require their clients to use the foreign exchange market to facilitate their transactions related to foreign securities.
Governments and central banks: The central bank of a given country has an important role in the foreign exchange market, where the reason for the increase or decrease in the value of the currency in the same country may be through trying to control interest rates. Reserves owned by foreign currencies.
