Happy Mothersday to all!
With one congratulations half of the world is put in the lightbeam today, as damn deserved!!! Because mothering isn't a walk in the park there, as we always assume, and getting harder and harder throughout the years. New technology, new challenges the kids are facing, new dangers, new expectations of how much a fresh mom should work next to her already 24/7 job of mothering. I am not envying you guys out there at all to be honest, because daaamnn, that'a load of work!!! Most friends of mines are fresh mothers, and actually seeing them decay in the first three years for the better good of the little ones is such a selfless act of love.
Because when we are honest guys, in the majority of the households in Northern Europe this is still the typical role. Dads work full time, moms do the kids/the household/and work parttime. And with that, juggling all balls to make everybody happy in the family, I often see that those ladies are forgetting themselves while struggeling to juggle all balls in the air at the same time. It is just impossible.
At the same time there is also this group in my age around me that are trying to have children but what isn't really working and the confrontation of that it is Motherday today isn't really helping them, because they would want to be moms so bad. Let's not forget this group, the group that doesn't want to be forgotten but doesn't want to be put in the spot light today.
And lets surely not forget the group who all of a sudden we have to take care of. At a certain age the roles starts to shift a little. From being the ones that are always lending a helping hand, sometimes now a hand is needed for themselves, and not everybody want to realize this from both sides. Getting older isn't always that much of a fun, and seeing your kids making choices which your are not always 100% behind can be challenging as well.
And that is just it. As you see, mothersday isn't aways always happy joy-joy I find. It is about acknowleding how the situation is tha your loved ones are in, and seeing it from their perspective and imagining what they are going through. That is what Mothers day is to me
Now go ahead and congratulate all those moms around your there!!
AMEN , i totally agree these days dont help the woman who want to be a mum, i am and i thank God i could but i never loose side of the hidden hurt,

So true! We have mamas who are in different phases of life and we have to acknowledge where they are and love them in it. We also have those super aunties (like you) and amazing godmamas who are “mothers” in their own way.
