Do you remember the time when you were little, in elementary school and your class teacher asked you what you wanted to become in future?

Many of us screamed
"I want to be a lawyer!"

"I want to be a doctor!"

"I want to be an engineer!"

Some even screamed "I want to be Obasanjo!" With so much enthusiasm.

"I want to have a big house"

"I want a lot of fine cars"

"I want a lot of clothes and shoes"

So at a very young age, must of us had a mental picture of what we want our lives to be, what we desire, shaping and tailoring our ways to suit the approval of others, because we don't want to be laughed at, because we want their approval and we don't want to laughed at.

You know what?

You are killing yourself for nothing.

One of the most disadvantageous acts you can ever engage in, against yourself, is to live your life according to the preference of others.
The great men and women that we read about and admire so much are known for chasing their dreams disregarding the odds against them. They do not give in to circumstances that seem like obstacles.

Priyanka Chopra is a person who, today is classified as an international figure because she chose to stay strong and diligent to her craft despite all odds. She refused to be brought down by the words of little bullies that constantly referred to her as a "Brownie" (Indian). She also looked beyond the expectations of her background, getting married at a young age and having kids for her husband, instead she chose to chase a career defying all odds - even one different from that of her family. Her parents were doctors but she chose showbiz. Today she is recognized as one of the best actors in India and a movie producer in both Bollywood and Hollywood. Priyanka produced the popular movie, Bay Watch. She is also an ambassador of UNICEF.
What if she had allowed herself to be drawn back or fashioned her lifestyle and taste to suit that of someone, somewhere?

Oprah Winfrey was born into poverty, in rural missisipi to a teenage single mother. Itbwas tough but she rose above the odds and made a name for herself by carving her own path to suit herself and made greatness out of it.

Lebron James was born in Akron, Ohio to a 16year old mother. When James was growing up, life was often a struggle for the family, as they moved from apartment to apartment while his mother struggled to earn to feed him. James, against all odds is now a force to recon with in the world of Basket Ball.

These success stories are not made overnight and are not made by people shaping their lives to avoid criticism from the world.

There's no limit to the achievement of your desires. If things do not go as planned after an attempt, learn from it and try again.

Do not give room for people to talk you down or influence your actions.

Avoid negativity.
Chase your dreams.

I guess as we grow older.."most dreams start to seem unreachable, unachievable or maybe even unreasonable"

Dreams of today are tomorrow's realities, don't kill the dream execute it. Success is getting what you want, happiness is liking what you get.
