The CN Tower is still the tallest free-standing structure in the Western Hemisphere today. It is 1,814 feet tall. More than 2 million people visit the CN Tower every year.
My father worked for the Toronto Telegram newspaper at the time. The press was invited to see the last beam go up. They had the least beam open for signing before not sure if it was a contest or not. (been to long to remember) Well the long it is the press there got to sign it and then the person in charge handed me the marker and let me sign it. Then they hoisted it up in the sky.
