1) Two-minute rule

David Allen has developed this method. The goal is to complete a series of easy, quick tasks first so that you can check many things from your to-do list in a short period of time. Then you feel inspired to move on to more challenging tasks in your list.

To get started, rewrite your to-do list for the day. Don't worry about listing things in any particular order - just summarize everything you need to do today.

Mark any tasks that you can complete in about two minutes and tackle them first. You will feel quite satisfied after passing all those things from your to-do list.

2) Pomodoro Technique

This popular productivity-enhancing technique requires almost nothing preparation. You only need a timer, which is most likely to be on your phone.

The basic concept is to break between each 25-minute block into a five-minute break. These concentrated intervals are called "pomodoros".

A timer and your job to do, that's all? This is all you need to try the Pomodoro technique.

After four or five pomodoro blocks, take a 15- to 20-minute break. On your brakes, stand up, walk around, do some jumping jacks, have a snack, drink some water - basically, walk away left from your workstation and "reboot" yourself.

The timer adds a sense of focus, importance and urgency to your work. Probably less likely to check social medias, respond to that text or stare out of a similar window if the timer clock keeps ticking.

Also, when you break your day into a more manageable section, it helps you avoid feeling heavy, even if you have a lot to do. It is easy to focus on a task for 25 minutes when you know you can take a quick break soon.

3) Take an exercise break

If you feel stuck, or as your hands are getting out of the day, then it is time to stop and get away from your work and regain your heart rate.

If you can run around the block, go to the gym. Get a quick power workout by watching on YouTube. Even 10 push-ups or jumping jacks can reset things of your mind, and give you the much needed power boost to work through the rest of the day.

4) Prevent Digital Distractions

The greed of digital distractions lurks around us every day, all the time, in the form of mobiles. When you get caught up in some of your work, you are more likely to pop on Facebook or scroll through Instagram, and you claim that you are doing this to get inspiration or take a "break".

You cannot work with the constant attraction of social media, games, and other distractions nearby.

When you start getting attracted to an unproductive distraction, take action immediately! To limit access to apps that disturb your screen, use some tools or apps. You can also block sites on your home network if necessary.

If you shut down the rest of the world for some time, it can help you focus on what you have to achieve.

5) Autofocus

The first step of this method is to simply write a quick to-do list of today's tasks (write a separate master list for longer projects). Take a minute to read all the items, and then choose the work that inspires or excites you the most. If there is nothing for you, choose something that you can do immediately.

Choose tasks that appeal to you to start your work, and keep the momentum going.

The goal is to do something that you want to do. Then, as you work on that task, you get into the flow of being focused and productive. This ultimately helps you move on to the next task, which can be more challenging and less fun.
