What's On Your Mind?

Businesses take financial audits to determine the state of their finances. I suggest that we should take a regular "thought audit" of our minds. We should discover why we think what we think and it's impact on our lives. If we don't like what we uncover during our audits, then we should make a decision to change such thoughts.

We have to learn to program our minds for success. One of the simplest ways we can do this by reading books written by great minds. When you read the book of a successful person, you connect with his or her mind and allow his or her ideas to rub off on you. When you read, open your mind to new ideas, new possibilities and new horizons. Don't argue with concepts that are new or alien to you, give the author chance to show you how these concepts can add value to your life. When you read a good book, you learn in one hour what took the author over a decade to learn.

You will acquire success strategies that took the author great pain to develop. People who have tried, failed and then succeeded will show you how to avoid unnecessary failure in your life. Failure is part of your learning process if you want to succeed in any venture in life, but you don't have to learn through your own failures. You can learn from other peoples failure and accelerate your success. It is only a fool who doesn't learn from other people's mistakes. The wise read the books of great men and women, learn from their failures and successes and then create a life which reflects the wisdom they gleaned from these books. The simplest pathway to success is to copy those who are already successful. Why try to re-invent when there I already a proven strategy for success available to you in good books written by successful men and women?. To succeed, just model or copy successful people.

Some people think that their project, goal or dream is unique to them alone. They ignorantly think that no one has experienced what they are going through so, they struggle to find solutions to problems which great people have already found solutions to and have written about in books. It is foolish to think that your business, life situation and challenges are unique to you. It is ignorant to refuse to rub minds with the great believing that a special solution exists to solve your challenges. The solutions to the challenges you face already exist in the books written by successful people. Search for them and invest heavily in them because they are the key to your successful future.

I once knew a girl whom I advised to read good books and seek counsel from successful people in her field of endeavour who could advise her on her life issues. This young lady never read any of the books I recommended to her and told me that nobody could advise her on what to so with her life. There is a saying that "you can take a horse to a river but cannot force the horse to drink of the water". I led this young lady to the river of solutions "books" but she refused to drink from the river. I finally decided to create boundaries and allowed her to make her own choice and live the kind of life she choose for herself. You cannot force someone to improve his or her life. You can only make suggestions and after that , the rest is up to that person.

It is over five years and her life is worse off than when I first gave her that advice. it she had achieved success through her own self contrived philosophy, I would have humbled myself, gone back to her and apologized for bring so "arrogant" and learned from her "wisdom". But it is so obvious from the failure she manisfested in her life that her philosophy of life is fatally flawed. A philosophy that resists proven wisdom and arrogantly detests the success of others is the philosophy of fools. A fool experiences failure in his or her life yet zealously defends the faulty philosophy which produced such failure.

Every great perons has several reference points in their lives. These references transformed their lives from failure to success. They read mentally stimulating books, listened to brilliant people, attended empowering seminars; built quality relationships which influenced their minds and helped them shape a winning philosophy of life. They acknowledged everyone who has contributed to their greatness in one way or another. The more references you have for buiding a great life, the better for you. The more powerful your references, the more powerful will be your drive. I spend more interesting amounts of money on buidling my references for greatness.

I buy books, attend seminars , read magazines , watch movies and spend time with people who add to my positive reference for success. Tony Robins, author of the best selling book, Awaken the Giant Within said, the more references you have for success, the easier it becomes for you to succeed. I have come to understand how simple the success process is. All you need to do is learn from the best people, apply their winning philosophy to your life and you will replicate their success in your life.

Your greatest investment should not be in your business, the stock market, real estate, your wardrobe but in your mind. Your most expensive and cherished asset should be your mind. Everything you possess or have accomplished in life so far is what your mind has produced for you. Everything you are going to become in your life will be produced for you by your mind. Develop your mind. Empower it with the relevant information you require to succeed and let it lead you into your destiny of greatness.
